Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

But this was a fishing vessel, not a airline with a schedule known months in advance. Fishing vessels are affected by short term weather and the patterns of migrating fish. Not a schedule you can reliably plan on months in advance. I have been on a few multiday fishing trips.
FOX interviewed the mother of the girl from Nashville earlier- she was obviously emotional but very grateful.
She mentioned that a woman who had been sitting with her daughter was shot in the back and was killed.
She’s spoken with her daughter on the phone- though she’s medicated and “vague”..

I would say that the overall goal was to destabilize or destroy the only successful country in that part of the world, and to alienate India from the US and Britain.
The immediate obsession of these particular terrorists on their cell phone may be a local issue, but the whole operation was much more strategic.

IFK, I rarely post on this forum (because of security concerns as a military wife), but I do spend many hours lurking and feel as if I truly know so many people here. Thank you for being here, especially now.
My heart goes out to you, your family, your friends, and your countrymen. Part of my heart is always with India. My husband’s father is originally from Mumbai but emigrated to America back in the 1960s. This day of Thanksgiving will be even more heartfelt for me and my family, as my husband is currently deployed with the US Army in Afghanistan ... he is missing our traditional American dishes of turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie, along with our also traditional Indian dishes of sewaian (sp? sweet vermicelli) and homemade curry. My children and I are all too aware of sacrifices made for the War on Terror against these vermin, and today as we partake in the sewaian and curry (my husband’s favorites), we will not only be praying for him and his fellow soldiers, but also for our Indian family and their/your countrymen in Mumbai.

The time between the hijacking of airplanes and their crashing on 911 was relatively short. And once the plane was controlled by the terrorists, you knew that it was going to eventually crash somewhere. In the case of hijacking a fishing vessel at a point that was 4 to 5 hours of travel away from the attack points, would raise the profile of the attack quite dramatically. My guess is that either the fishing vessel was chartered, the captain was involved with the plan or the fishing vessel was meant to smokescreen the actual terrorist mother ship. See ya later.
They would probably have had plenty of time. The fishing boat left Porbandar the 13 November and was not reported missing until it was found floating outside the Mumbai harbour.
One can assume that the dead man aboard was the owner/captain who was killed (beheaded) once he had fulfilled his duties. Whether he had been paid or coerced we don’t know.
What remains to be found out - among other things - is whether the fishing vessel picked up the terrorists on the coastline somewhere, or if there was another larger vessel that acted as the real base of operations.

- Group of hostages leaves Chabad Center on second night of Mumbai's seizure by Islamist terrorists.
- It is feared that none were Israelis although several are known to be held in the building.
- Israel-India flights continue on schedule. One carried a group of Israeli doctors for Mumbai.
- The Islamist terrorists attacking Mumbai for the second day came from outside the country, believed Pakistan.
- Indian security sources report many Israeli hostages in the Oberoi Hotel, which the terrorists still control amid sustained gunfire in the lobby.
- Heavy battles resume in the Taj Palace Hotel.
- Indian naval troops board the MV Alpha freighter suspected of having sailed the terrorists to Mumbai's shore from Karachi, Pakistan.
- Anti-tanks missiles handed out to Indian commando force battling terrorists at Taj Palace hotel.
- Indian general: Four or five terrorists inside Chabad Center.
- Islamist shooting attacks and blasts spread to southern Mumbai away from the hotel district ---
- Terrorists hurl grenades at Indian forces surrounding Chabad Center and the Oberoi hotel.
- Fighting flares up anew in the Taj Palace Hotel said to have been cleared Thursday. Some hostages escaped and many bodies were found in guests' rooms.
- Terrorists are still holed up at the Oberoi Hotel and Chabad Center with hostages, including Israelis, under police-commando siege.
- A woman and child held at Chabad center came out of the building.
- The Mumbai stock exchange stayed shut.
- Police sappers defused bombs containing RDX strewn across the town.
- International airlines canceled flights to the beleaguered Indian town.
- The terrorists wear elite military unit uniforms. Each has an automatic rifle, grenades and military-style kit.
