Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

All signs seem to point to the Indian Mujahideen, but maybe there are several groups involved like LET, etc.
One article suggested it included Hindu Extremists.
Could be, but I have not read anywhere else anything about them participating in this series of coordinated attacks.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Indian commandos and police were evacuating civilians and cordoning off the area apparently in preparation to storm the Chabad House in Mumbai, India, where a rabbi, his wife and several other Israelis were being held hostage, according to IBN, an Indian news agency.
Slideshow: Terror in Mumbai Newscasters were calling it the “final assault” on the Nariman House, where Chabad headquarters are located, adjacent to the Leopold Cafe, a major tourist center in Mumbai’s Colaba area, which was also attacked Wednesday night.
Chabad spokesman in Israel, Moni Ender, said there were eight Israelis inside the house, including Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka Holtzberg.
According to a Foreign Ministry estimate, a total of between 10 and 15 Israelis were being held by terrorists at both the Chabad House and the Oberoi Hotel.”

I am very sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you, your cousin especially and your entire family.
Thanks for the personal comment, so many times these events appear distanced on TV. Because they happen far away and maybe because - the medium being the message - these news events are jumbled with action/adventure movies with big explosions on other channels and become somehow equivalent.

The locations chosen to attack show a hit on democracy and freedom- in this southern area many western tourists flock to it - the airlines have offices in this location - lots of commerce.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “The terrorists struck a total of 13 places in different parts of the city and suburbs, killing at least 101 people and injuring another 327, Deshmukh asserted.
The chief minister said six foreign nationals were killed and seven others have been injured in the terror attacks.
According to Deshmukh, there have been “no negotiations” with the terrorists. He said the operations would continue through the night and even till Friday morning if the situation so warranted.
He said that 800 army personnel, two units of the navy, 200 personnel of the crack National Security Guards (NSG) are involved in the operation to flush out, kill or capture the terrorists.
Extra teams of doctors have been deployed to treat victims at various hospitals. Arrangements have also been made in nearby hotels to provide alternative accommodation to the guests staying in the two hotels.”

There’s a grisly photo of a Western couple murdered at the Taj hotel pool while (apparently) eating dinner.
Looks like the husband (?) was kneecapped, there are no obvious shots around the torso area.

Coast Guard locates suspected terrorist ship (India/Mubai terror attacks)

MUMBAI: M V Alpha, a ship which is suspected to have carried the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks, was today found 112 km from here by the Coast Guard, officials said.
A CG spokesman said that searches were being carried out on board the ship but declined to elaborate.
The Coast Guard had launched two aircraft, choppers and its vessels after receiving information that the ship could have carried the terrorists from Gujarat to Mumbai.
