Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.

Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.

The first shooting took place near the CST police station

Also reports of police vehicles being hijacked by terrorists. They stop in a crowd, then start firing indiscriminately into the crowd. This sounds like warnings about things that AQ would try here.

They’re showing video of the chief preparing to go into the hotel- he’s putting on his flak jacket and helmet- a few minutes later he was shot and killed.

What I don’t understand is why the DOW is at +206.

Because the Chosen 0ne has named his economic team, and given a clear signal to Wall Street that he means business as usual (more bailouts and money for the banks and investment firms, etc.). Traders on the floor of the stock exchange don't care a whit about what's happening in India at the moment.

We’ve not seen a terrorist attack like this before. It certainly suggests the sophistication of al-Qaida, and I’d be reluctant to assume a Kashmiri connection, although that’s entirely possible.

The terrorists from Kashmir want to hit Indian targets, not necessarily western citizens.

Either there are more terrorists than reported or this is not a good response by the Indians. 20 terrorists at eight locations is not exactly a huge group to get at any one location.

Regardless, it’s a very serious attack and I hope it gets under control soon. Far too many people have already died.
