A 19-year-old Florida man committed suicide live on a Web cam, encouraged by those who were watching, according to reports.
Abraham K Biggs, of Broward County, took an overdose of pills while broadcasting himself on Justin.tv, a live video streaming Web site.
Biggs used the Web site to stream footage from his bedroom and told users he would be committing suicide and invited them to watch live.

I have thought about and attempted suicide many times in the past. I used to think of my failure as some mystical way of telling me that I was really meant for something meaningful.
This seems key. Failing at committing suicide seemed to be important to this guy. Unfortunately, you can only fail so many times in a row, before you succeed by accident.
Very sad.
Two of my friends had family members commit suicide. A good female friend of mine had her Husband of 18 years hang himself in the bathroom. When she broke in, her and her two kids found him hanging from a cord. Three years later, both her and her kids are emotionally destroyed because of this.
Another female friend’s Dad blew his brains out with a shotgun in the living room while the family was at home. She helped clean up the brain matter splattered all over the living room. Her entire life since has been an attempt to recover from what she had witnessed.
If anyone, anyone out there reading this has thoughts of suicide, PLEASE reconsider!! You have no idea just how devastating and ruinous this can be to family members and your friends. It will shatter their lives and leave them in the depths of depression and may even lead one of them to suicide. There are plenty of reasons to live - they just may not be as evident as you want them to be at this time.
Failures ... and even the attempted suicides were heaped onto the failure pile in life. He probably thought a successful suicide would make him less of the failure he thought he was. Sad. Very sad. Suicide is not a victory over anything. It’s the final “failure” - giving in. I would bet he thinks the opposite of this last act - his attempts at suicide were finally met with “success”. This guy really needed help.
I was hoping that movie would stay a piece of fiction, that online gawkers wouldn’t actually encourage death as they watch. I was sadly wrong. The “metube” society, sponsored by the culture of death, has come to full fruition. It’s absolutely horrifying. I can only hope the gawkers who encouraged him have a heavy conscience for the rest of their lives, but I’m not holding my breath. It’s bad enough just seeing someone die, it never leaves you. If you’re encouraging it to happen, if you actually want to watch it knowing full well it’s for real your soul must already be pretty dark.
YES!
You hurt the ones that love you the MOST. They will always feel guilty. Wondering why they didn’t do more or see it coming. It really messes people up.
if anyone has suicidal thoughts please check out the Be Still exercise at fhu.com. It is free to try online and has helped so many people to come out of hell which comes through our minds at times.
Terribly sad story. Wonder how his life got so bad he thought this was the answer.
“I am definitely not on the wrong site. Have you seen the various postings on this topic and many others, when people are injured or get laid off from their jobs?”
Yes you are on the wrong site and no you are no conservative. Just because you reference other comments that have been made doesn’t mean you have stupid all to yourself. Your comment was a low and ignorant of any I have ever heard. Go back to your cave and stay away from here.
Injuries and layoffs are usually not achieved by choice.
I haven't seen many posts such as you describe, though.
Right now all I see is your response, another typical liberal worshipping the culture of death. Sickos like you made it possible for this tragedy to go down this way. You belong with others of your kind over on Kos or DU.
Thank you. Finally a worthy response to this tragedy. I don’t know whether I’m bothered more by the lack of response from sick people who would watch something like this or the compassionateless responses from freepers who I like to give more credit than this. How awful.
You're assuming this guy had any real world friends. That might not have been the case, if this guy was so screwed up that his web cam was his only real outlet for human contact.
Unless you knew where this guy lived, calling 911 would have been pointless- where would you tell the authorities to go to find him?
Human life has had no value since Roe vs. Wade. It is responsible for so much evil in our nation.
Sure there have been some that will fall into this ... but today, it's a HUGE percentage that are so terribly lost. T.V. and movies glorify this stuff so in their rebellious years and beyond they do it. Parents are around LESS so they have more time to indulge in this stuff. You really have to be vigilant with your kids and RAISE them properly, today.
COMMUNICATION and OBSERVATION is KEY. There are ALWAYS signs - ALWAYS - you just have to catch them. There are too many pulls in the wrong direction aimed at them. Many parents really don't know their own kids ... many weren't around to raise them - busy chasing $$$$. You will see more of this stuff ... .
Why don’t you just save me the time, so you’re actually saying you cheer when people get hurt and die and such?
I was merely replying to the original message number 3.
It is interesting that no one is criticizing him, and he is a well-respected poster.
The best description of a Conservative Nature was that
it is skeptical, cautious, sensitive to the local and particular.
It is a mindset, or a way of see the Universe
It is NOT insensitive, in specific cases
It is aware of the Local and Particular consequences of ours, and others actions. It is frequently skeptical of imposed schemes to control the actions of others.
I suspect that the post in question was meant to alert others to attend to their own foibles...
