Republicans have looked closely at the election results. The country hasn't so much moved left as it has abandoned a GOP that abandoned its own principles. In Ohio, Barack Obama actually won about 40,000 fewer votes than John Kerry did four years ago. Mr. Obama took Ohio only because John McCain pulled 350,000 fewer votes than George W. Bush did in 2004. Republicans and Republican-leaning voters stayed home.

Money quote.

Yes, and from the exit polls and other data collected, the Fiscal Conservatives stayed home while the Religious Right held their noses and voted. Amazing how that turned out after the complaints ahead of time were that the voting would be the other way. McCain has no one to blame but himself for running off the Fiscal Conservatives. His Palin pick helped with all but Catholics. His bailout antics sealed his defeat.

Gov. Sanford is truly a great person to save the conservative movement; I would also include Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska because of her strong conviction for what she believed in and won't back down, even when the media is trying their best to take her down. Furthermore; I believed the left wing radical see Gov. Palin as their primary threat otherwise they would not focus and put their effort in trying to attack her, now that the presidential election already ended.

In the past weeks; I've witness that the MSM is trying to divide the unity among RGA with the hope that members of the RGA won't be able to emerge as the leader among conservatism. We as conservative; only have a few member of the RGA, I have respect for Gov. Mark Sanford, Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin and Rick Perry. These are the people who will lead us through these very difficult time in our nation. Semper Fi Mac!

"But Tuesday was not in fact a rejection of those principles -- it was a rejection of Republicans' failure to live up to those principles."

And there were several McCainiacs on this very board who attacked others for having unwavering principles. A shameful period.

No more RINO’s, if a conservative will challenge McCain in the primaries in 2010 I will work with ACORN to defeat McCain.

Lesson of 2008: A RINO couldn’t even beat a Communist.

The country hasn't moved Left. Conservatives refused to vote for a party that wouldn't live up to conservative principles and which got absorbed by Washington's high living ways. Either the Republican Party returns to its roots or it dies.

for example:
“Last week’s events were rooted in distressed mortgage securities whose optimistic values were facilitated by quasi-governmental entities Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The investment banking capital write-downs were turbocharged by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which did what too many laws do — it fixed yesterday’s problem. The amazing expansion of credit was fueled by a Federal Reserve offering an easy-money policy that led us right into a credit bubble. All this was made worse by the government enabling some people’s tendency to want more house than they can afford. “

Yes, I held my nose and voted. I put the unborn first and let go of my extreme dislike of most everything else McCain stands for; I'm very glad I did that, but I was no less PO'd at him.

Sanford, Palin and Jindal must be the future or conservatives have no future with the GOP. Which means no votes, no money and no foot soldiers convincing those precious “moderates” and independents not to believe what the press says about Republicans.
rallies.

Would you give up control of congress or allow RINOS? Sorry, I have to play the devil’s advocate. I’m not sure I know the answer to the question myself. I’ll go sleep on it.
