“With the economy in bad shape and the possibility of a deep recession looming, the Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to levy new taxes—on cows and pigs,” American Farm Bureau Federation Director of Regulatory Relations Rick Krause told Wyoming Farm Bureau members at their annual meeting. Krause spoke in Sheridan on Nov. 7.
“This is no laughing matter,” Krause said. “The cow tax and the pig tax are parts of a larger scheme by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.”
“Under the proposal, if a state charged the “presumptive minimum rate” from the EPA, the cow tax would be $175 per dairy cow, $87.50 per head for beef cattle and a little more than $20 per pig,” Krause explained.

This is one time you and I are going to have to disagree, FRiend.
This is going to take an incredible amount of money out of the local economy. And it will primarily hit RED STATES and Counties.
This tax is equal to, or exceeds, the margin of profit for most species.
My family will continue to have access to Grade A meat, whatever the government decides to do with this incredibly stupid proposal. But I'm not thinking about my family. I'm thinking about the millions of families who do not have the luxury of growing their own food.
This new tax will drive thousands of producers out of business leaving a huge gap in the producing market. Thus creating a shortage of protein.
Let's face it. This is a thinly veiled attempt by the enviros at the EPA to regulate the livestock industry out of business. And if it passes, they will succeed.
Livestock is sold on a bid or contract basis. And there really is no way for the farmer/rancher to 'pass along' the tax increase. And the buyers have no interest at all in 'adding' the new taxes to their bids.

Obviously this cow tax proposal would threaten agriculture viability. So what’s going on? Are they serious? Yes? Is the goal to end up with a dozen ultra large corporate ranchers who control 80+% of the nations livestock. Such a group would certainly be easier for the UN ministers to deal with. Agenda 21 marches forward.
It's just mind-boggling to think of ALL THE RELATED INDUSTRIES that a move such as this would affect. Not to mention the obvious stuff like the burger slinger at McDonald's.
At the website linked in the article, the cut-off date for comments is Nov. 28th. My husband checked it out and there are multi-page letters from USDA, Dept Transportation, Dept Commerce etc. condemning this fascist proposal.
One would think that the restaurant industry wouldn't sit idly by either...

Next I have to figure out what to do with three trees full of grapefruit, a little tree with about 200 lbs of pummelos, 110 lbs of ponderosa lemons and 50 pounds of persian limes...
So Farmer Frank, Rancher Randy, and Butcher Bill...get into their cars and drive up to DC...to personally meet with Democratic senators and representatives....to discuss a bailout....around $80 billion this year...and another $80 billion next year...for farmers, ranchers, and butchers not to accomplish any beef or pork production in America.
The senators and representatives will wink over and over at each other and the cameras....and then agree to bailout these folks too. At this point, the government will swoop in and virtually own every cow in America.
A Cow Czar will be appointed by President Obama....who will tour America....coast to coast...meeting his cows and discussing cow bailouts with everyone who will listen. The Czar? He’s an Indian dude who considers cows holy.
At the end of his presidency....President Obama is given the Nobel Peace Prize...for his cow policy. Millions cheer from Sweden to Tonga. Eventually....a couple of farmers from Alabama stand up and offer up some illegal beef, which is sold via El Salvadoran gangs on the streets of America. The illegal beef, with no taxation on it...is sold like “mary-j-u-wanna”, and then a commerical is produced with one dude saying to another....”Dude, got some beef?”
