A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson near Malibu Creek State Park, a sheriff's deputy said Sunday.
Suren Sahakyan was booked on suspicion of arson at the sheriff's Lost Hills Station and held in lieu of $75,000 bail, said Deputy Byron Ward of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
An area resident saw the man on shoulder of Stokes Canyon Road near Mulholland Highway, starting a fire using paper and leaves about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Ward said.
The resident stomped out the fire, and Sahakyan fled but was caught by sheriff's deputies a short distance away.
sounds about right. I wonder if he was heard chanting Alu Akbar. Alu Akbar.
Well, it’s not like we wern’t warned.
Oh, whose wacky Amish and their peculiar names.
Oh, thank you Washington for those porous, open borders. And you continue to let these maggots in....socialists are just as happy to rule over ashes as they are anything else....
It is all about power. Thank you Washington.
Sahakyan is an Armenian name. They are mostly Eastern Rite Christians.
We need to be alert but not foolish.
If this were the same author I doubt he would be a muslim. This author is writing about an Armenian hero who fought against the Ottoman Empire.
Course this guy is not identified by race, religion, nationality etc. so he is not a Republican.
Just give this dirtbag over to those who have lost their homes. Let a little venting happen.
It's an Armenian name. Armenians are Christian.
Are you in the SCV? We lived off the 14 and Golden Valley until '02....got to know the Oakridge area well, sitting for hours in "earthquake traffic" trying to get home each night.
Wifey has an old friend (no contact since, of course) who would have lost her mobile there. We'd visit on occasion, and it's obvious she was not in back area that survived.
I remember about three years ago there was someone with a similar “heritage” arrested for arson during a massive fire in southern California. I happened to be on FR at the time and read the news, but the thread was pulled within half an hour of it being posted. No other mention of this arrest anywhere and the news disappeared as quickly has it had been posted. I found that very strange, as if there was a fear of backlash against Muslims.
I think these fires are all being started by domestic terrorists. I don’t recall EVER hearing of fire after fire like we are hearing about it these past couple of years.

more likely a firebug. Once the first big Santa Ana fire hits, the firebugs come out to play.
Unless he converted.
