no - about $320
No idea. I am just learning about handgus. It will be my first.
Not to knock it but I will just stay with my Browning Hi-Power and Colt .45. No need for me to rearm.
For someone who has no handguns it might be worth a look.
Most 45’s are loaded with useless bells and whistles that you don’t need and IMO, if you are not a professional, will only confuse the user when it ‘goes down’.
Safety off and shoot with a standard 1911. What more do you need?
Will do.

Picked one up last week for $340.00. It's the Beretta which is now distributed and marketed by Stoeger. Same tooling, people but now made in Turky instead of Italy
I would vote for common, as in something with a market presence at this time — The coming age of Obamunism is not likely to be friendly to new pistol designs with little market presence for parts and magazines from here on.
Seems like an elegant design with plenty of very good features. But — Timing is everything.
My brother has one in .45ACP. I was pleasantly surprised at how softly such a light pistol shoots at the range. I’m planning on one soon.
Proud owner of an XD45 Compact.
Great weapon.
All that considered, the 9mm has been a widely-used weapon for over 90 years. I just would rather have something that doesn't invite a rejoiner.

John
Here it is fighting off either a tree, an animal, someone from ACORN, or a violent gay protester.

I’m shocked that it took 8 posts for a 1911 zombie to show up.
Good choices.
I have an XD9 full size. It’s a good shooter and comfortable but I still prefer my 1911’s.
I have the subcompact - great gun.
I have a 1911 that’s close to celebrating its 100th birthday (1914)... still keeps on ticking... just like a timex...
Finest weapon ever made for social work!
There is something about the 1911 that just, I don't know, *melts* into the hand?
The single column magazine, sensible trigger reach, excellent balance and instinctive ergonomics make it a pleasure to practice with. I grew up with Jeff Cooper, I got his book A Complete Guide to Modern Handgunning for Christmas when I was seven, and wore the cover off of it. The 1911 of course was featured. Call me old fashioned, but I can make holes that count with this pistol more easily than with any other. After thirty five years of shootin' it, these newfangled pistols, while great to shoot, just don't satisfy.
