O'Reilly just bet Dick Morris that Sarah Palin would appoint herself to the Senate. The only problem: Alaskan governors can't appoint vacant senate seats, because of the murkowski scandal.

O”Reilly clarly does not like Palin. He’s mad at her for not being on his show.
In Alaska, a special election must be held 60 to 90 days after a seat is vacated.
Sarah could appoint anyone she wants, but they will only be in the seat for 2 or 3 months.
And she would destroy her political career in doing so.
Sarah would appoint herself right out of a job.
I suspect Sean Parnell will run and will win.
Sarah may appoint him to fill in for the meantime if she is confident he will win.

She could appoint an interim Senator but declare her intention to run. Let the voters choose. I think we need to keep her on the national scene. Hopefully the voters of AK will think so, too.

I think this is what Sarah will do-pick someone who will be strictly a temporary, interim pick who promises not to run in the special election himself or herself and then Sarah will then run in the special election herself when the special election is called.

If she stays in Alaska she has no chance to win. She will continue to be marginalized, ignored by the national media for the next 4 years.
If she gets into Washington and fights, she will gain some national attention, earn her “international” chops, maybe get on some committees (foreign affairs, military) that will give her the experience that she was slammed for in the past.
She will become a bigger threat having 10 year of executive experience and 4 years of experience in Washington. Can’t mock that. More experience than the Pres Elect had.

That is exactly why he doesn’t want to hear anymore about Sarah. She is doing interviews with everyone but him. Bill O felt that if Sarah would have done an interview with him early on she would be Vice President now and he could have prevented her reputation from being tarnished.

They would use every opportunity only to try to belittle her further.
