ABC News' Bret Hovell Reports: Appearing for the 14th time on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and appearing in his first television interview since losing the presidential election, John McCain said Tuesday that with all of the crises facing the country, it is time to move past the partisanship of campaign.
"Now its time for America to join together and support the man who was just elected president," the Arizona Senator told Leno.
"Its a great honor, its a great privilege, its an incredible thing that I was able to do," McCain said. "I salute, as you know, and admire and respect the winner: Senator -President-Elect Barack Obama."
McCain was greeted warmly by the Veterans Day crowd, who gave him what seemed to be an extended welcome.
Leno asked McCain what he has been up to in the last week, what external forces could have affected the way the election turned out, and, of course, about Sarah Palin.

Hey McCain, the “sore loser” was attributed to Gore when he went to court for recount after recount instead of conceding. I don’t think of you as a sore loser.... you seem pretty happy about it for some reason....
That is an interesting story.
I sent an aquaintance an email with the picture of this walking disaster in front of his podium with the “Office of the President-Elect” poster saying that at least I might get a few giggles out of it.
I got back an all-caps message telling me to stop the hate and the fear mongering!!!!
There was nothing hateful or fearmongering in the message, just a little poking fun. After 8 years of ChimpyMcBushhitler, illegitimate, warmonger chickenhawk shrieking, all of the nastiness MUST now end, and I MUST get behind and support the worst human being ever to manage to get elected to this high office.
I, for one, am having none of it. They have set a standard. Let them live with it.
First, one has to consider what is at stake.
Next, consider the path of the new president
Next, should we allow or fight that path
Gee....should we follow McCain's advice? NFW

I predict (no biggie here) that he will be Obambi's "go-to-guy" to get legislation passed that other Republicans will oppose.
Hey Jorge, I'll send you a extra set of knee pads!!!
this campaign was mismanaged on so many levels as to be the template for how not to run a campaign.
the biggest wasted asset was Sarah who could have easily pulled McCain's yarbles out of the coals if she were given the go ahead.
This guy thinks the GOP gave this election to Barry. I suspect the Powers that Be are using him for their Socialist plot.

“to be honest, I supported McCain and was glad to do it, but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to have him cross over to the rats....not one bit...”
I didn’t support McCain in the primaries, but did support him to defeat “The Chosen One”. My reasons of not supporting him originally goes back to his good friend JF Kerry and how McCain was fawning and telling the voters what a great man he was, and the fact that Kerry was thinking of McCain as his running mate.
“Jay, it was great fun running, but of course I was never really serious about the campaign, I was just hoping some liberals would like me and I might get some faint praise from the Leftist media. Overall, I think it worked out pretty well and now I can retire and feel good about not being a real candidate.”
McCain, hello, and that’s WHY they didn’t put you in office.
And to all the RINO’s thanks for pushing this turd on our party, oh and thanks to the Huckster.
Despite all the criticism here, I thought McCain was likable on Leno. Much more likable than the self important pompous Barama.
I felt that he made a lot of America entertain the notion of “buyers remorse”
“”Now its time for America to join together and support the man who was just elected president,” the Arizona Senator told Leno.”
Shove it, McCain. I will NEVER support Obama.
As for you, crawl back under whatever rock you came from, and please allow us to forget you ever existed. It’s partially because of YOUR ego and YOUR lack of communication skills and YOUR lack of principles that we lost, you RINO jerk.
Whew. That felt better.
I knew it was over when I saw McCain tell that person they didn’t need to fear an Obama presidency.
Not only 'no' but .....
It’s absolutely important to do to the democrats what they did to Bush for 8 years and then some. Sore loser? It’s over for McCain, not for us. His contribution now as a senator is to support and not lead. Send in the next leaders and let’s get going.
McCain appparently never learned that politics is war and a winner take all game. He brought a knife to a gunfight and lost
