Barack Obama promised he would lower taxes for 95 percent of Americans and presumably raise them for the 5 percent who benefited most under President Bushs tax policies. But, remarkably, the most affluent 5 percent supported Obama and that was perhaps the key to his victory last week.

Certainly I was taken aback with that portion of the exit poll showing McCain losing the 250 grand and above crowd. I remember Bush dominating this voting bloc in 2004 by 2 to 1. IMO it’s more of a symptom rather than the cause of McCain’s failed bid for the WH.

Yep by the exit polls Bush won by 63 to 35 in the $200,000 and above bracket. It’s actually 1.8 to 1 but it’s close enough to 2 so I rounded up a bit.
