When Barack Obama takes the oath of office on January 20, Americans won't just get a new president; they might finally learn the full extent of George W. Bush's warrantless domestic wiretapping.
Since The New York Times first revealed in 2005 that the NSA was eavesdropping on citizens' overseas phone calls and e-mail, few additional details about the massive "Terrorist Surveillance Program" have emerged. That's because the Bush administration has stonewalled, misled and denied documents to Congress, and subpoenaed the phone records of the investigative reporters.

Obots and Headbangers are about to be disappointed. Nothing is going to be revealed and nothing is going to be changed.
I expect Homeland Security to go on steroids under Zero.
Zero will probably throw the Obots a bone, a name here and there who was exposed, but change it, no.
At least now we know why the leftists and Obama were so ‘against’ wiretapping terrorists.... so many domestic and foreign terrorists are members of their ‘constituency’, overseas supporters...indeed best friends and neighbors. (eye roll)
I don’t think much of it is illegal. The spying is directed at known terrorist contacting people here.
But I am done with defending Bush. He has messed everything up so badly these last 2 years, nail him for anything you can find!!
Well we’ll soon see just how brave he really is.
If he really undoes what Bush has done to protect this country and something blows up here and Americans die he’s going to have a lot explaining to do...
Glad I don’t live in a large city...
This is the most insightful thing I've read today.
Democrats were eager to trash perfectly legitimate exercises of executive power as long as they were frozen out of the executive branch. Now that they own it they will turn the page and sing a different tune. They are all about enhancing government power and making it more arbitrary. They won't even try to resist the temptation to use war as an excuse for doing what they do.
It isn't just the ACLU that's in for a rude awakening. The anti-war nuts are riding for a fall as well. Leftists surf any wave of anti-war sentiment they can find but, in power, they love the opportunity war gives them to advance the cause of statism. Wilson, Roosevelt and Johnson all exploited anti-war sentiment for electoral purposes and then became war Presidents. Obama isn't likely to be any different.
President Obama will probably be a grossly incompetent war leader, but he will embrace the role and use it to extend government control over American life as much as he possibly can.
And the silence from the anti-warriors and the civil libertarians will be deafening.
What is their real mission, Carolyn ? Holding a safe, warm comfortable government job ?
The media should publish the names of all the innocent Americans who have been falsely accused and prosecuted of any crime due to the monitoring of their overseas communications under the authority of the “Terrorist Surveillance Program”.
But perhaps they already have.
So when the spies start to talk, will it endanger any agents in the field? Then the myth and hypocrisy of the PlameGame will be shattered.
The dirty little secret is that the media (including a reporter at Time Magazine) is in direct communication with terrorists. They don’t want their phone lines tapped as they communicate with the enemy.
I keep hearing how Obomber (his high school nickname, by the way, not a terrorist handle) is just like JFK. Does that mean he would have tapped MLK’s phone calls too?
“I saw several photos of Obammy right after he got his first top secret briefing. He looked stunned and scared to me. His face told the whole story. Reality done whopped him upside the head but good......”
I think you read that exactly right. The fairy tale is over and the empty suit just walked into the room and found out how overextended he is after that briefing.
And every bad guy in the world is rubbing their hands with glee. They have absolutely no fear of this guy. None.
I expect we’ll find out more tonight on the news.
Bush better pardon Cheney, then resign. Then Cheney can pardon Bush. Otherwise, he will not get a happy, quiet retirement.
Let them have hearings.
It might be part of the agenda of showing what hyper-partisan nutjobs the Dhims are.
I sure hope during that security briefing, they were kind enough to make clear to him that keeping the nation safe is now his responsibility. Come January 21st, there is no more, "Bush's Fault", but there will be many anxious to say, "Obama's Fault".
The left may own the press, but there are still 55 million people who are just waiting for the moment when we can say, "I told you so", and it will be a loud voice.
Chavez and Putin have been doing it, and getting away with it.
