McCain Owes Sarah Some Straight Talk

Where's John McCain's honor when we need it?

We'll find out tonight, when the Arizona Republican appears on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. In the week since the election, Mr. McCain's campaign team has leaked some nasty stuff about Sarah Palin. These leaks are personal, and they speak more to the character of Mr. McCain and the leakers than they do to Mrs. Palin. So it will be telling if Mr. McCain stands up for his partner and says how offended he has been by what some of his staffers have done to her.

What disturbs me is not what McCain is going to say about Palin tonight on Leno, but just where in the world he’s been for a WEEK? I find this to be, a the very least, the character of a bitter old man just like McCain has always exhibited in the past.

Unfortunately it would have been a landslide without her. Looking ahead, I think Romney-Palin for 2012 or a similar combination with Sarah as VP. She needs to do some time in DC learning about the complete a$$holes that live there and in NY. Then move on to POTUS.

I terms of a conservative caucus I’d support within the Republican Party, it would have to be pro-religion. If the religion neutrals or anti-religionists within the Repub Party want a caucus, let them start one.

This election has proven that the Republicans don’t win without an active base. McCain didn’t excite the base...to include religious conservatives. He NEVER made Abortion and Justices a topic of discussion. What message was he sending with that????

McCain is right up there with Bob Dole as the worst Republican candidate ever.

He did squeak out a few more EVs. Currently, McCain has 163 with MO still undecided. Dole had 159.

Some on FR still claim that Obama's 364 to McCain's 163 was NOT a trouncing. I have to disagree: winning by 200 EVs IS a trouncing.

I agree that it will hurt, BUT, you can’t stop it in states that don’t require party registrations. The truth is, if anyone can register as anything they wish, it’s just as easy to cross over.

What we really need to do is get rid of “winner-take-all” in the state primary voting.

You were right on! I did not think that far ahead; I firmly believed there was no way that Obama could lose.

I do believe that Palin will be named the Executive in the 12 election....if we play hardball at the same level as the socialists.

Very few of the Republicans I know were going to even bother to vote before he picked her.

I wasn't going to do any more than drag myself to the pols and put a reluctant X on his name.

Once Sarah was chosen, most folks were energized and ready to walk through fire for her.

We just looked at Mcwhatshisname as a place taker until she could become the real President.

No crossover voting should be allowed. That's the only way the putz got the nomination.

Actually, that was only part of the problem.

The other part was too many conservative candidates splintering the other primary delegate counts. Thus, none of the right-of-liberal-McCain candidates appeared to have the edge. McCain was getting the moderate (big business, country club globalist) Republican votes and the cross-over Independents and Dems.

Early on, the conservatives should have united behind one standard-bearer. They didn't. And McCain used that to his advantage -- with a little help from his Dem, Independent, globalist and media "friends".

John McCain had the worst campaign staff in the history of presidential campaigns.

The fact that they leaked negatives about Palin during the campaign is only one example of their self-serving ineptitude.

Well, I didn’t support McCain during the primaries but Duncan Hunter, his military background and work in Congress be praised, would have been shellacked.
Hunter, Tancredo, Johnny What’s His Name, even Senator Thompson (who I did support) were boutique candidates. Each attractive to his supporters but political footnotes.

The primary process is what gave us McCain in the first place. Winner take all primaries in CT, NY and CA is stupidity. And, that is how McCain won. States we have no chance of ever winning are selecting the GOP nominee ?

every time we run a article, interview, etc about the PAST and the mccain/palin ticket is another opportunity for the msm jackasses to defend themselves as too, and they do!
if we allow sarah to do it, when she feels it needs to be done and on what show and format she chooses (i enjoyed greta with her cooking, just me) then the average people SEE and HEAR and feel palins sincerity and the type of person she is. none of us can give that to the people, only sarah.
yes, expose them, but we have to think logical about it, not with our emotions because we love her. we need to let her connections to mccain DIE. GO SARAH!!

I don't know, but I wasn't one of them. I was blasting McCain from the beginning, but toned it down a bit once he became the nominee. I must admit it feels awfully good to be able to blast away again.

I agree with you. I’d get rid of winner-take-all primaries.

The most they should get is something proportional to their percentage of vote in that state. If Candidate X wins New Hampshire with 40% and Candidate Y has 33%, then X doesn’t walk away with 100% and Y with zero. X has some delegates and so does Y.

I think the party already gives extra reward delegates to states that voted for their candidate in the previous election.
