Even if they carelessly slighted the Coast Guard.

At least, to my surprise, none of the caps had red stars on them.

I wonder how fast enlistments will drop off under this next “CinC”? I use “” because he has not one iota of what that position means. I wonder how many brave men and women currently in service wil choose to sign on for any more terms.

Well, it *does* tend to get transferred to the Navy in time of war...

In 1993, Bill Clinton was considering a VAT tax, propagated by Laura Tyson and Robert Reich.

Think these two Clintonista retreads, now advising the Ruler-Elect, have changed their thinking on the matter?

Neither do I.

Hence there is no evidence to support the academy's fashionable view, propagated by Laura Tyson, Robert Reich, and Lester Thurow, that spend-and-VAT policies direct resources toward better economic performance.

And before you go there, yes, we all know that the Marines are a department of the Navy.

The MEN’S department. :D

I believe that Google’s staff aided Obama’s effort to scrub his past from the Internet.

Actually, from what I hear, I thought the Marines are now an independent branch. They’ve long borne an disproportionate amount of the fighting.

Oddly enough, during World War II, the Merchant Marine had a higher fatality rate than any branch of the Armed Services, including the Marines.

Nope. Marines are still a semi-autonomous department of the Navy.

It will be interesting to see how this will impact our manning levels. For those who are currently under commitment and had planned to be career military, I am sure there will be ‘wait and see attitude’. For some of those who had no career motivation, it may cause them to re-think their length of commitment. The tough nut to crack will be keeping the pipeline full with new recruits. If it appears that the military becomes a thankless job, as during the Carter / Clinton years, the quality and quantity of our volunteer force will be diminished. Do I feel a draft?

We’re kinda used to it. But it is nice to see they finally recognize us.

Wait a year.

Already had a local ObumbaBot walk away in a huff when I cheerfully asked if the May Day Parade in Harvard Square was going to have missiles on display.

Why does a leftist Google owner need a fighter jet? I found that recent Drudge story scary.

Because he can afford it. I'd have one too, if I had the money. It's kept at a federal airfield, too. Part of a sweet deal with NASA. It's not really a fighter, though, it's a trainer.

The Left likes to pose as a friend of the troops (which are usefully cast as victims of the military-industrial complex) so this is no surprise.
