The Republican vice presidential candidate attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of "palling around with terrorists", citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers.
The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric.
But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further.
The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin's attacks.
Michelle Obama, the future First Lady, was so upset that she turned to her friend and campaign adviser Valerie Jarrett and said: "Why would they try to make people hate us?"
The revelations, contained in a Newsweek history of the campaign, are likely to further damage Mrs Palin's credentials as a future presidential candidate. She is already a frontrunner, with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, to take on Mr Obama in four years time.
Details of the spike in threats to Mr Obama come as a report last week by security and intelligence analysts Stratfor, warned that he is a high risk target for racist gunmen. It concluded: "Two plots to assassinate Obama were broken up during the campaign season, and several more remain under investigation. We would expect federal authorities to uncover many more plots to attack the president that have been hatched by white supremacist ideologues."
Irate John McCain aides, who blame Mrs Palin for losing the election, claim Mrs Palin took it upon herself to question Mr Obama's patriotism, before the line of attack had been cleared by Mr McCain.

Of course the author seemed to have left out that the secret service also investigated the supposed “kill him” comment and it never happened. Yet the media keeps bringing it up over and over.
The election is over, they won, and now there is nothing to complain about so lets keep making stuff up.
That has never been substantiated, but the media continues to push it. Not that I'm at all surprised.
The fact that the Obamedia is keeping this trash going makes me wonder if they're not a little worried. Worried that the messiah they rammed down our throats just might not quite live up to all the hype.
The “kill him” comment was a lie. The “terrorist” one is real, Alan Colmes played the terrorist clip on Fox News.

Firstly, I doubt if Michelle Obama ever said this. It sounds like a pathetic ploy by the Obama people to silence any and ALL criticisms.
Secondly, Obama DID pal around with terrorists from Ayers to Odinga.
At the very least we have to question Obama’s judgment.

They are making it up. “Shouted threats” reported by print media were investigated by the proper authorities, and nobody had heard them but the reporter. Nothing but lies.

If they had a video or recording of such behaviour, it would be on every MSM network news show.

Nope...heard it myself...but she was talking about AYRES at the time..not obama...
The “kill him” and “terrorist” were both aimed squarley at ayres...
The press tried to spin it as threats against Obama...simply not true...
The one time she WAS talking about obama..the only person who claimed to hear a “kill him” was a reporter and Obama supporter...that incident was never confirmed although the SS checked into it...
If she wasnt a threat...the press wouldnt bother mocking and smearing her...they would just ignore her..

First of all the “kill him” remarks are unfounded - secret service at the rallies stated that those allegations were false and that never happened.
The “terrorist” cry was at a McCain campaign and he asked the woman to not say that.
SO again - false reporting and disinformation. BTW - I was at a McCain/Palin joint rally and there were plenty of other rallies (first of all there was no lynch mob mentality and it was the Obama protesters that were closer to this) but Ayers was mentioned while he was at the rally plus the campaign staff would have asked her to stop if this was not part of their plan and what they wanted her to mention.
I also read The Case Against Barack Obama, before Palin was even announced as McCain’s running mate - the information about this man’s beliefs and assocations were accessible by anyone who wanted to do their own homework!
