Billy Graham Won't Advise Obama Because of His Strong Pro-Abortion Position

by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor November 7, 2008

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Respected Christian preacher Billy Graham has been an advisor and spiritual helper to presidents dating back to President Eisenhower.

But that relationship with presidents will now come to an end because incoming president Barack Obama takes such a profoundly pro-abortion position.

To be sure, Graham's health is playing a part in the decision his son Franklin Graham told the Associated Press.

"My father feels like his time and day for that is over," Franklin Graham said. "But he would certainly like to meet (Obama) and pray with him."

But Franklin expressed concerns about Obama's abortion position -- something he mentioned to the senator during the campaign as a stumbling block -- and indicated that as the main reason.

He told AP the Bible is clear in its teaching that human life deserves respect and protection even before birth.

"President-elect Obama has heard our position," Franklin Graham told the news service. "And I told him that this was very difficult for us and hard for us. It's a moral issue that we just can't back down on."

"But he's our president-elect, and those positions that he holds that are contrary to Biblical teaching, I hope that God will change his heart," Graham added.

Obama's position in favor of unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason was a key issue for pro-life voters during the campaign.

Obama also came under fire for supporting the so-called Freedom of Choice Act, a Congressional bill that would make unlimited abortions under Roe v. Wade the national law and overturn the abortion reduction laws of all 50 states.

The senator also drew condemnation for his votes in the Illinois state legislature against a bill that would have made sure newborns who survive failed abortions receive appropriate medical care.

Please, if Rev. Graham is a democrat who did he vote for? Evangelicals use abortion and homosexuality as an excuse a ploy for division. It is the women that make a conscious to remove their unborn child from their body. I don’t see Christians trying to reach woman or any kind of organization to counsel women who want an abortion. More women have had an abortion since the Bush administration. If the President opposses abortion then perhaps there would not be any. Please!!!

Hussein would not even want to be in the presence of Mr. Graham.

I agree, what is this about being “My President”. I personally don’t think any of the recent presidents have been good because I don’t think voters are capable of choosing good leaders, not that the choices on the menu have been strong either.

Actually, there are many so-called “crisis” pregnancy centers that promote adoptions. People are just not that interested in them, as they are looking for freebies from socialists.

He also went on TV about 1997 and said Bill Clinton “couldn’t hep it because the ladies just love him” (not exact words).

Yes. You ARE supposed to pray for him. Unless you don’t think God puts rulers into place, that is.

Pray for what, exactly?

Exactly what you said that you would pray for.

Talked to three at work today.

Let me be clear. They don't care about Obama’s Abortion stance, his tax scheme, his lying about his tax scheme, his Supreme Court picks, his raping the Military or any of his Socialist plans for the country.

They picked him because he was not a Republican, and because they considered McCain another Bush. And these are three smart guys, not some Lefty moonbats.

Looks like I'm the kook at work now.

Obama seeks to, in his own words,
‘’break free from the essential
constraints that were placed by the
Founding Fathers in the Constitution.’’

He SHOULD counsel a Secular Humanist. Barack Obama DOES NOT see Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He sees all religions as being credible and worthy of salvation.

He does not believe the God would punish anyone who did not acknowlege Jesus Christ. Hindus, Pagans, Buddists, muslims, they are all good.
