President-elect Barack Obama's newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.
According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.
Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) of having "failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention."

Particularly they wanted to take down Rumsfeld , who made General Shinseki, Dan Inouye of Hawaii, and Stevens of Alaska [the indicted Republican senator] get their panties in a wad over stryker armored vehicles. Both Stevens and Inouye wanted deployments in their states.
Appointed or not I won’t try and hide his past by bringing up other people as you are doing. “Don’t charge me with murder when other people also murder,” is not very convincing.
McCain and other Republicans tried to change these institutions while your beloved Barney just laughed up his sleeve at the naivity of non-crooks. And the Treason media just read the DNC talking points about evil Republicans trying to screw the poor.
Is that to hard for you to understand. We had a Republican administration and a republican appointed attorney general. They did nothing, take it up with them. And I repeat mccains campaign manager and many on his staff were lobbying against changing Freddie and Fannie. McCain's so called attempt was for show and tell only it wasn't serious.
Change? What change? The thieves are now in charge.
