Commentary: After Palin hard-sell fails, McCain aides attack her
CNN ^ | 11-06-2008 | Campbell Brown

Whatever you may have thought about John McCain's running mate -- about whether she was qualified, prepared or experienced enough for the job -- try to put all of that aside for just a moment, because Sarah Palin is who she is.

She did not become measurably more intelligent or measurably less intelligent during this campaign. Remember, she was only part of the campaign for a matter of nine weeks.

Sarah Palin is who she is, which is why I find it so stunning that the very people who introduced us to her, who told us she would make a great vice president, have now turned on her with a vengeance.

Remember this always. Guess he’s not that much of a Maverick.

Sorry Sarah, you were duped and lied to. (As were we all). You are better than that. Glad you are back home with people who have a sense of honor and dignity. Look forward to supporting you in the future.

She didn’t ‘buy’ into sh@t! She appeared where she was told to appear.

If that's true, she doesn't have the independence to be a candidate for president. Do you seriously believe she went on SNL without wanting to?

If we're making excuses for every poor choice she made, she's already doomed for another run.

I think she was completely agreeable to the SNL appearance--you can't be that enthused about being on the show and be faking it. I think she was over her head in many ways, and she should be criticized for her flaws as a candidate--some of her responses in interviews were embarassing, and we can't just blame editing and stupid asses like Couric and Gibson--if she can't take THEM on, she isn't fit to run for anything on a national ticket.

I think she has the intelligence and savvy to be a great candidate in 2012. But she has to do it on her own, she can't have us making excuses for her missteps. She's capable of growing.

Regarding post #35—Wow. Just Wow. Palin is the reason McCain got any money from me and my husband. He is a jerk for not standing up and defending her honor and intelligence. Jerk.

She wasn’t running for POTUS... Mc Cain was. She, like Biden, did what she was TOLD to do.
The problem with Sarah was that she took on her challenges with enthusiasm. That pissed off a lot of people who wanted to diminish her.
Your comments are pathetic.

Sent the GOP money in the last week of the campaign. If I would have known they would do this to Palin, I would have put a stop order on the check.
What a sorry lot.

Best wishes and prayers for Gov. Palin and her much maligned family.

Stokowski told a story—true or not?—about his early days with the Philadelphia Orchestra, when he was programming some newer music, such as “Bolero.”

“’Oh, Maestro!’ she said, ‘I hope you will soon play again that wonderful “Bordello”!’”

She wasn’t running for POTUS... Mc Cain was. She, like Biden, did what she was TOLD to do.

She gave the answers to questions in interviews, and she was awful. You can keep whining that she's a poor victim, but no one was working her mouth in those interviews.

The problem with Sarah was that she took on her challenges with enthusiasm. That pissed off a lot of people who wanted to diminish her.

If you really believe that she lost support because she took on challenges with enthusiasm, you're deluded. And you're also contradicting yourself--I thought she did what she was told to do? Was she just following orders, or an enthusiastic fighter?

Your comments are pathetic.

You are ignorant. I don't mind being considered pathetic by people who can't think.

My feelings, too, but maybe Palin first, if nobody better comes along. I can’t think of anything more disgusting than seeing a couple of prissy, effeminate twits like Cameron and whoever passing on juicy gossip as if it were documented fact instead of hearsay. Cameron has always looked to me as if he was trying not to get his makeup on the mike while gushing about the latest to-dos in the McCain Campaign. To accept this crap as fact is too much to believe, and I smell some former contender(s) in this. Who could gain from doing this? Someone who wants to run next time? Someone who was a spoiler before, maybe? JMHO, of course.

Bill O: According to Bill, to succeed one must go on his show first, frequently and as a priority. Bill seems to think he is an expert on matters where he seems to know so little, e.g., supply and demand. He claims he is an “opinionator”. Yet, many times he seems to have no actual opinion, but instead I get the sense he is deliberately, cautiously appealing to all parties involved in order to get both sides as guests on his show. Didn’t you just love the Obama Chronicles? Yet, there was the infamous Barney Frank interview too. It disgusted me when I heard him say it is immaterial to him who wins the election. Knowing what he should know about Barry it should matter to him highly. He knows how to draw and audience, but I will be in it much less frequently now that I truly see he is an entertainer first and foremost.

>How hard would it be...

The answer to your rhetorical question is what differentiates spiritually impoverished politicians from healthy people who are skilled in the art of living.

Senator McCain is a Republican but not really a Conservative and I am sure he choose people to run his campaign who are of the same world view. Sarah Palin is a true conservative who drew huge crowds and has the potential for becoming the female Barack Obama. This is another reason they are trying to trash her..They want her put away forever because they do not agree with her conservative views. They hope to back another liberal Republican in 2012 and they do not want Palin to compete with them. I know several people who share this belief. However, I believe scapegoating is the main reason for the trashing. I can’t imagine what this woman and her family have endured over a 9 week period from the major news media and now, from these people. They want her to become so discouraged that she will never attempt another run. Don’t let them intimidate you Sarah. They do what they do because they recognize your strength. They can’t have that kind of opposition around. Anyway, folks, 2012 is a long way off. We might not even have a country by that time. I really do not see any reason for optimism regardless of who is President and the problems we face are the result of many years of turning to the left in the sense of morality. They talk about global warming and the need to destroy coal, etc., but I would venture to say that it is the pollution of the human soul and immorality which will kill us. I weep for the children...
