Commentary: After Palin hard-sell fails, McCain aides attack her
CNN ^ | 11-06-2008 | Campbell Brown

Whatever you may have thought about John McCain's running mate -- about whether she was qualified, prepared or experienced enough for the job -- try to put all of that aside for just a moment, because Sarah Palin is who she is.

She did not become measurably more intelligent or measurably less intelligent during this campaign. Remember, she was only part of the campaign for a matter of nine weeks.

Sarah Palin is who she is, which is why I find it so stunning that the very people who introduced us to her, who told us she would make a great vice president, have now turned on her with a vengeance.

Poor Randy Sheunemann. Still unbelievable to me that this guy had property confiscated and people looked through his e-mails. Un-effing-real.

List up these people, make a website called "Leper Colony" and put their names up there for everyone to see for the next four years.

Cameron was enjoying giving this report way too much for me to believe what you are dishing.
He wasn’t passing on the news - he was gossiping with anonymous sources and having a great old time yakking at the backyard fence. This is not journalism, it is not NEWS. It’s slander.

I have not seen any of them willing to talk about the anonymous sources in respect to the seedier elements of Barack Obama the Messiah’s background.

Talk about a double standard.

Go to McCain's site and send him a message. Let him know our support for Gov. Palin and that it was she who brought our support to him. Without her, we wouldn't have voted for Sen. McCain. He needs to come out and defend her, his choice of running mate and shut up the staffers worrying over their next meal ticket.

Yep, they were downright incompetent. They were giving up days before the actual vote, coming out mealy-mouthed whenever they were interviewed. Now they’re hoping to find some sort of RINO job until the next election, so they’re trashing Palin thinking that will help them.

They could have brought out all that stuff on Obama and pressed the attack during the debates when it would have done the most good. McCain didn't want to do it. He treated Obama with kid gloves and lauded him at one rally as "a good man from whom we have nothing to fear." Well if he thought so highly of Obama, who were the American people to disagree with his own judgment of his opponent? McCain's demise was entirely self-inflicted. And as they are wont to say, the rest was history.

They are just covering their butts so they won't have a rough time finding work.

That ship had pretty much already sailed. Now they are just going to scuttle it.

She was a decent person with good manners and brought out the kinds of crowds McCain couldn't. She was the only one who seemed to have a message. The top of the ticket didn't have one. One can dispute her qualifications and perhaps even question whether she's a conservative but no one can question the way she conducted herself on the campaign trail. Few people could have comported themselves as well under such difficult circumstances. Had McCain nominated someone else, his loss would have been larger, since no conservative would have voted for him. I wouldn't have if Palin hadn't been on the ticket.

McCain may very well have had the worst campaign staff in history and they seem determined to make sure everybody knows it now.

Let them grumble. Nobody will remember them four years from now. McCain will not be running. It is time for the young talents of the Republican party to take center stage. There is a lot of young talent waiting to take to that stage. This will be exciting to see the rebirth of the Republican party.

I was waiting all day to hear McCain come out and defend his running-mate from this scurilous scuttlebutt.

As a conservative, I’ve naturally had a LOT of qualms about McCain over the years. I can’t deny that. But this silence (so far) is really beyond infuriating to me. He’s always gone out of his way to defend his Dem adversaries at the drop of a hat, but now he won’t come and defend his running-mate, who worked her heart out for him? This is looking really, really classless, if not downright dishonorable. He’s going to be silent, and thus stand with those rodent-like staffers and operatives...? The clock is ticking down, and there’s very little time left.

Screw McCain’s aids. McCain better call them off or he is gonna pay for it. Whiney babies. No wonder they couldn’t win.

I hated the idea of McCain running for President. In fact, I was adamantly opposed to it and said so several times in rather passionate terms about 8 months ago.

I also admitted that my estimation of him climbed a bit when he chose Palin. I thought: maybe he's listening after all.

But no...no sooner are the breastworks down and we are swarmed by the enemy, we have those who supposedly supported her turning on her and stabbing her in the back...and what does McCain do? The same thing he did to the Constitution he swore to uphold: dishonored her, with a total disregard for the uplift and support she gave him. Im telling you, someone who is willing to P*SS on the very document that gave him the accolades and honor that he cherishes so highly (and whored out as much as he could), is the same person who would use up a young conservative like Palin and then walk away while others attacked her.

McCain - you are despicable. I'll repeat what I was saying back when you first became the nominee - you dont deserve the honor of being a vet, not when youve done everything you could to trash the Constitution that gave you that honor. You might as well throw away those medals. There are Generation Xers and Yers who are FAR more honorable than you!

I'm not "dishing" anything, merely observing. And of course a reporter's going to enjoy this sort of backbiting crap. They're human.

Campbell Brown is a twit who appeals to those who follow Palin as a celebrity--the way we all criticize people for following Obama.

Folks around here disagreed when I said she and McCain should stay away from SNL, but it's obvious to any but the most starry-eyed that those appearances did nothing for them, and only cheapened her name as a serious candidate.

When Palin foolishly bought into this stuff, she laid herself wide open for this kind of thing--you want to be a celeb, you'll get treated like one.

I disagree. They could have destroyed Obama with Wright and Black Liberation Theology and his other associations. In a sense it is good that the US has its first AA President, but they could have destroyed him if they wanted to.

But McCain was never going to do any of that, so you can't say that because we'll never know.

Wright got serious play--so much so that Obama had to make a speech about it. And he didn't suffer for it one bit. People talk about how McCain stayed away from Wright, but that's because we weren't pleased with the outcome the first time. Going to that particular well again would have woken up no one--do you really think people DIDN'T know about Wright? Of course they did. They just cared more about the economy, and they bought the "4 more years of Bush" bull because McCain is a Republican.

I think a lot of people are over-thinking this. McCain was a horrible candidate, and the media loved Obama--I think it's that simple.

She didn’t ‘buy’ into sh@t! She appeared where she was told to appear. It wasn’t her call it was the McCain campaign’s call - you’ve been around, you know that. Palin was not calling the shots.

The only reason McCain and his ‘staff’ (infection) were not completely embarrassed by a complete and total humiliating landslide, is because of the tireless, hard hitting campaigning by Sarah Palin. That is the fact they don’t want to admit.

What a bunch of weasels.

Doom on em.......we have names and numbers and they won’t be employed in a real conservative effort for Gov Palin.
