Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start."

I believe that the 13th doesn't apply to school based mandatory volunteerism. I think it went to the state of MD's supreme court.

If this is true, many Obama supporters are not going to be happy. They’re actually going to have to work.
My son already has to do community service. It can include raking the leaves for the elderly lady down the street. Or helping out at the church. All good stuff, and it doesn’t bother me that he is “forced” to be a part of our local community. In 2010 we’ll see if helping out at the conservative political office will count. Or if he’ll be required to work for ACORN in a “community” get-out-the-vote drive. He may just have to take a drop in his grade if it gets to that. Or homeschool.

Sorry, but I don’t know. My kids are out of the system, which, by the way, was a private Christian high school. It was mandated by law and they had to comply.

I pulled my daughter out of public school after she was there for only three months. I couldn’t believe the nutty teaching methods and loony philosophies for which they had fallen.
They were home-schooled for about 6 years until I could afford private Christian schools. Unfortunately, the private schools here still must comply with Ministry of Education mandates, and volunteering was one of them. It was rather redundant, as the Christian schools, by following core beliefs, already encouraged the students to help their fellow man.
I do agree - the school system is used to indoctrinate, not educate. I support a voucher system which would open the system up to competition and most of the loons in these cushy jobs would wind up at the food banks being helped by one of their volunteers.
The new bi-racial president will in the end completely destory race relations in America. Rich is code for white and poor is code for blacks. O is transfering the wealth from the white folks to the black folks.
The end results will be civil war. That is why he wants his national police force. He knows that at some point white people will fight back. Those who do not accept the new/old socialism will just disappear, ie executed by the maxist death squads.
I am trying to figure out how we would fight this if it ever came to be...and if the "raise and support armies" clause wasn't the reason the draft wasn't canx by the 13th amendment...then what would keep the courts from using the same reason?
On a side note...I am looking forward to the next person of color praising Obama. I will bring this up and ask them if this doesn't sound like involuntary servitude...IE slavery. Then I will ask them if they are for involuntary service. Cannot wait for that.
