What about the little girl affirmative action? Shouldn't females everywhere just give up? What about us? Men can have power black or white, but women, don't even think it!
That's the way to speak troof to powuh! /SARC
Your response addressed NONE of Rembrandts points. You simply went on the attack with your tired old rhetoric.
I bet you speak "Dane-ish" too!
;-)
Boardwalk,
This time it IS about you. Carry on.
You sure you read my post? I am unsure why you wrote what you did in reply to me.
I guess I don’t see it that way. For the dems, you have two candidates who are both energizing and would both be ground-breaking nominees, but only one can be the nominee.
The fact Obama didn’t pick her proves the guy doesn’t want a knife in his back. It isn’t about the skirt. He doesn’t want Hillary anywhere near the White House for political reasons, not because she’s a girl. She is a wicked opponent and to underestimate her would be a lethal mistake.
Plus, Hillary had high negatives. She was a much more polarizing figure to people than Obama. You either loved her or hated her. And a lot of dems hated her. So that was a huge liability. She has a well-deserved reputation of being an assh0le. And I’d say the same thing if she was a guy. She was the brains of the Clinton Machine. And they made a lot of enemies.
And I didn’t see any of this at Palin (except from the press and SNL, but what do you expect?) from other republicans. I would be interested to know from you what were a few examples you could tell me (from repubs) that made you think this was going on with Palin. Everyone I know was really feeling much better because she was picked.
I just learned, because of the Ascention of the Chosen One on Tuesday...that being an American is 'cool' again with the rest of the world. Well...I can sleep happy tonite!!!
My take...he thought his little minions ‘clever.’ Same way he rubs his chin and brow with his middle finger...try it...its an awkward motion (at best). Its not Freudian...its ‘look what I’m getting away with.’
Maybe for some, it isn't 'about the skirt' but I really believe that 0bama has issues w/women. His mom dragged him around the world; and gave him (for a formative period in his life) a Muslim step dad...in a Muslim country. Do you think that influence makes for a neutral view of the opposite sex?
Look, you’re blending issues together that shouldn’t be.
The media was going to do anything they could to elect Obama. McCain’s VP pick was one that threatened Obama’s ascent, so they just took the easy road. This should not surprise anyone. She had a squeaky clean past, so they went the “c@@t” way. No surprises there. Who wouldn’t expect that? Look what they did to Dan Quayle? They made him into a f@cking hand puppet. He was actually a smart guy with a clean record.
So don’t mix in the media’s response like they’d only have gone dirty because she was a woman. That is absolutely not true - it just gave them a different variety of ways of attack. There are common ways to attack both men and women, but there are those specific to men (impotent, idiot, can’t control his own family, if he’s handsome, he’s a pretty boy without much brains, if he’s ugly, he’s less appealing and considered less intelligent), and some specific to women they want to take down.
Second, you’re confusing a personal problem Obama may have with women and saying one person’s problem is the whole party’s problem. You’re projecting a personal flaw to be an entire political party’s view.
I'm a woman, a wife, a mother, a sister and a daughter.
If women want to get ahead in the world of politics, they will have to take their lumps with the men. Some people made fun of McCain because he's old. Some people made fun of Biden because he's bald. Some people made fun of Obama because of his name or his race.
Fair? No, but politics aren't fair.
We live in a brutal world. If women can't hack it, they'll never make it.
If you'll notice, Sarah Palin seems largely unphased by the whole process. She understands that to get ahead in politics, you roll with the punches.
Anyone who demands special treatment isn't worthy of the office they seek.
It's always fun and games until the monkeys get loose.
Yeah, the very same people who rip on you for picking on people because of race, color, or gender, thought it was totally appropriate to bash a candidate because he was older. And mercilessly bash him.
