SEATTLE - Immigration officials say more than 10,000 illegal aliens were deported in the last year from Washington, Oregon and Alaska - breaking a record for the region.

Oh really? That’s the only other option?
How about enforcing the border and the law like 142 other countries on this planet do?
There's a shi*load of farm work here, especially on the east side of the mountains, and Skagit County particularly.
They get here, do some pickin and prunin then see the money to be made in the trades, which they have usurped right from under the noses of American workers.
It's good to see ICE is doing some prudent work, but of course, it's never enough...
Don't know about Washington State (haven't been back since I moved in 2006). I do know that whereas I saw seemingly thousands of illegals coming from southern Mexico and Guatemala per week in the late 1990s, I don't see too many coming now.
Well, at least until the next construction boom.

Always err on the side of deportation!
Dream on.
Comparing to the current situation adding Mexico would have no negatives too.
If the status of the 12 to 20 million illegals is legalized, they will in turn be able to sponsor an additional 66 million to 100 million more LEGAL immigrants thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification. The country will be destroyed with the stroke of a pen.
Surge Two: Northward Flood of Mexicans Likely to Increase after U.S. Election
It wasn’t an issue in the election because the candidates did not disagree on it - they were both for amnesty.

I wouldn’t give up on stopping legalization. Remember 2007? We stopped amnesty. The public is completely fed up with illegal immigration. And they will flood switchboards on Capitol Hill again to stop any new efforts at amnesty. We’re winning this battle and we shouldn’t give up.
Don’t worry, all deportations stop on January 20.
I read somewhere that 1.5 million Mexican’s have repatriated to Mexico since January 2006. I believe these
were Mexican government figures.
Not enough but a start.
