Regular Folks United ^ | November 6, 2008 | Kerri Houston Toloczko

News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

I agree-when Sarah run solo and doesn’t have to follow McCain’s talking points she will be a far better candidate.

The left always ridicules those they fear. They saw the crowds she was drawing and the ratings she was pulling. They’re absolutely afraid of her.

And they should be.

I cannot imagine another more than 3000 to 5000 people coming out to see McCain with another Rino on the ticket.

Is that number for an entire week? He'd be lucky to get a crowd that outnumbered the media at a single stop.

Agreed. This is nothing but coffeehouse BS. What I do remember from the consession speech was Palins dire, weepy look. Though not crying, she was obviously dejected, and immediately marched off the stage when the speech was done. Rush L. said it best:”Palin doesn’t like to lose.”

My eamil:

How dare the McCain staffers blame his loss on Sarah Palin! The ONLY reason I voted for and worked for McCain was Sarah Palin.

I traveled to Florida at my own expense and worked for three days on the ground knocking on doors because of Sarah Palin. I spent over $1,000 for this privilege.

I donated $50 to McCain after his selection of Sarah.

I want a refund now!

Sincerely,

And it shows that McCain was such a disaster that he couldn't beat a horribly weak candidate!

I think his principal mistake was to go for Federal financing. That limited him to $80m. Reagan couldn't have won, if he had only had 1/8 of his opponent's funding. Remember the movie "300"? In real life and on-screen, the "300" lost. They gave a good account of themselves, but they *lost*. Note that I'm no McCain fan, but the first principle of post-mortems is to figure out which one of these things is different from the usual run of things. In this case, it was the money. Bush raised $600m to win against Kerry. McCain tried to do it with $80m. It was a bridge too far.

Davis and Schmidt live off of political campaigns. They are positioning themselves for their next job. The Republican Party, and McCain in particular, should not allow this. McCain should go on public record as saying the sniping against Palin should stop. Republicans shouldn’t be fighting each other when they face a huge problem in dealing with the Democrats.

Nicolle Wallace & Randy Scheunemann

We must NEVER forget these two. Not a year from now, not ten years from now.

And conservatives, including talk-show hosts, have to get over their reluctance to attach names to these quotes and incidents.

I am glad they are naming names. We are tired of hearing nothing but blame.

The source of this garbage is still unnamed.

Palin was the only Republican candidate out there kicking ass and naming names. McCain could only blame Bush and attack Republicans. Yes, I supported McCain, after Palin joined the ticket. I did not, cannot connect with McCain or understand his campaign tactics. Sorry, McCain campaign staffers should stand up like men and quit blaming anyone else. But, why can we expect that now when they ran such a gutless campaign?

Palin scares the poop out of the left.

Well put. That's why today - AFTER the election - there are still stories out there attacking her. It seems bizarre that her name would even come up now. How many other VP candidates were even in the news after their team lost an election?

They know we want her back in '12.

Just dropped a note of support to Sarah:

http://gov.state.ak.us/govmail.php

I am disgusted with McCain’s staff, and how ‘wimpy’ his personal appeals were in his campaign. If he was half of a Romney, he would have won this race!!

Same here, if Palin had not been picked, I would not have given them a dime. I voted Mc/Palin mainly for PALIN.

Just heard a caller on Rush saying that the next time McCain reaches across the aisle, he needs to go ahead and find himself a seat over there where he more properly belongs. I second that!

I stated on FR that I would never vote for John McCain for any reason. I was going to write in John Galt and Hank Reardon. I ate those words when he chose Sarah Palin as his VP running mate. I voted for Palin and held my nose for McCain.
