News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

You must have heard the names—George Soros, Warren Buffett, Ted Turner, the Rockefeller Klan? Plus illegal foreign contributions—? Do you realize how much money and power just a couple of these represent?!

But, even with money - they are grossly incompetent. Nothing has changed in 25 years, as with the example I stated in #426 - they didn’t care about wasting money. It has always been a group of elitists that are more interested in being important and throwing parties. In some cases they just lucked out - but to be able to beat the democrats - the party has to have devoted people to run it.

My local news just reported that a couple of “McCain campaign workers” showed up at Palin’s hotel room for a briefing and she came out wearing nothing but a towel. This crap has to stop!!!

I kept telling people McCain was campaigning for Obama all along and was throwing the fight early on. Dragging this fine woman's name and reputation through the mud like this is inexcusable!!! If the GOP is going to behave like this I'm ripping up my Republican card and re-registering as an Independant until they get there crap together! And they won't see a dime from me in the future if they hire the McCain Campaign underlings on any future campaigns! If McCain is such a noble man of character, why isn't he out defending her? Probably because he has a stool sized seat at Obama’s Big Top and wants illegals to have their piece of this once fine nation to devour.

STAND STRONG SARAH!!! YOU HAVE MORE INTEGRITY AND HONOR THAN ANY OF THESE PUKES.

As much as I hoped things would be different, I kind of saw this whole thing happening.

Hunter is the only one who’s ever gotten a dime out of our house.

I knew this was going to happen and decided not to donate after some consideration.

Right on - beagleone!
McCain’s numbers would have been MUCH lower without Sarah. O’Reilly has called for her to come and defend it on Monday - she should and McCain should go with her and rip those jerks that bad mouthed her.

Good management is a wonderful thing. But would Bush have beaten Kerry if he only had $80m against Kerry's $577m? I don't think so. The reality of political campaigns is that they are ad hoc organizations slapped together for a year or so. There's no time to get everything rationalized. Workers are self-selected in part because of zeal or political connections rather than ability. I can't blame McCain for bad organization - what I will blame him for is making that $80m mistake.

They won’t know what it means. But why did McAm hire them? Rove probably slyly suggested them? This is infuriating, but we need now to concentrate on Hussein’s BC, the lawsuits generated by many groups and citizens, the illegal foreign contributions, his dangerous friends & allies—the joyful celebrations of the Islamofascists over his election!

Thank you for the information on retrieving my contribution due to the Palin trashing. I really appreciate it. I will let you know if Steve Schmidt shows up at my house ready to take his kick ;)

I sent my comments and demand for a refund to the RNC at:
snelson@mccain08hq.com

I told them that along with my outrage, I felt I was mislead and demanded a refund.

By the way Jeff, you ROCK! Good job on all the work you put into helping Sarah. Keep that engine running for 2010 Congress and 2012 POTUS.:)

Ok - put aside the Africa thing. But I could buy the NATFA/North America thing.

I also saw her on Gibson and Couric.

And I can hear her speak - almost as bad as Obama without a script. I just didn't like the depth of thought. I didn't like her answer to what constitutes a 'elitism.'

Anyway, it's over. Maybe another four years of seasoning can change this - someone get her a subscription to Foreign Affairs.

Of course, I would vote for her in a heartbeat over any Democrat.

It doesn't matter. You and I and everyone here will be in sharp agreement on her competency if and when she decides to run in 2004 and has a few press conferences, townhall meetings, etc.

"a good chairman-of-the-board type"

No, we need a hard-core intellect with a sharp understanding of policy and tactics. We need a Tony Blaire who can go toe to toe with anyone in the media or in the opposition, who understand grass roots politics and how to organize, and who is a right-wing stalwart.

Note: In publicly traded firms, "Chairman-of-the-board" is not where the action is - not now or ever.

The Beltway people are terrified of Palin and Jindal because they are not insiders. When Reagan came in he got rid of a lot of old FDR holdovers and really shook up DC! No one had done that before. They want to make sure that never happens again. Republican insiders or Dems have been in charge since 1932 (except Reagan) and they want to keep it that way.

I agree, McCain and Palin should appear together and put all this to rest once and for all.

Personally, I don't believe for one second that McCain blames Palin in any way whatsoever for the loss. I'm sure he's blaming himself, but in any case, he's not the kind of person to dwell on failure. He's going to move on.

It was obvious to anyone with eyes that McCain has a lot of affection for Sarah Palin and holds her in high regard.

She answered his call to duty and they fought together like soldiers on a battlefield. For a military man like McCain, friendships forged under such circumstances are the dearest of them all.
