Strains Between McCain and Palin Aides Go Public

Report: Palin's Wardrobe Is to Be Audited by GOP

Now that the defeated team of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have gone their separate ways, the knives are out and Palin is the one who is getting filleted.

Revelations from anonymous critics from within the McCain-Palin campaign suggest a number of complaints about the Alaskan governor:

Fox News reports that Palin didn't know Africa was a continent and did not know the member nations of the North American Free Trade Agreement -- the United States, Mexico and Canada -- when she was picked for vice president.

The New York Times reports that McCain aides were outraged when Palin staffers scheduled her to speak with French President Nicholas Sarkozy, a conversation that turned out to be a radio station prank.

Newsweek reports that Palin spent far more than the previously reported $150,000 on clothes for herself and her family.

Several publications say she irked the McCain campaign by asking to make her own concession speech on election night.

The tension is likely to continue or get worse. Lawyers for the Republican National Committee are heading to Alaska to try to account for all the money that was spent on clothing, jewelry and luggage, according to The New York Times.

Many people with advanced degrees have attended several universities. Although I only attended one school for my AB (my degree is written in Latin, unlike the plebian degrees from the run of the mill schools), I obtained graduate training at George Washington U (DC), Indiana University (Bloomington IN), and University of Virginia. I was recruited by but did not attend both Columbia and Harvard Law (Obama's shools). So, what was that 5 schools? I either attended or I was actively recruited for them. That's hardly a red flag for anything. In fact, it means I'm pretty bright and you aren't!

Tell me, after you got your M.D., in which medical specialty you became Board Certified in and at what national percentile you scored in your specialty Board Examination and then we can decide if you are "pretty bright" and I am not.

Although it is true that graduate studies takes you to various universities, an undergraduate study that features such schools raises Red Flags.

Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester

North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study

University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism

Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester

University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

When trying to judge a potential President of the United States, whether you are curious about the academic record, or merely want to explain it away, is up to you considering how "bright" you are.

I happen to be curious about the matter, especially in regards to a candidate that could not name a single newspaper she read articles from.

Sarah Palin went to 5 different colleges and has a 4 year degree. Going to 5 diffrent colleges in four years, just like having 5 different jobs in four years, is usually considered a Red Flag.

If you would bother finding out what you are talking about it would help to keep you from looking stupid. The reason Sarah went to 5 different colleges had nothing to do with not being able to cut it grade wise. It had to do with money and other personal problems. The point is, that is spite of the problems she was able to finish out her degree. There is no "red" flag.

When you cannot handle Katie "Colonoscopy on TV" Couric basic questions such as, "name some newspapers and magazines you read for your world view input", you will have a MAJOR problem being taken seriously by the majority of voters in America that are not card carrying members of the Sarah Palin Fan Club.

I'm thinking her handlers probably told her to always avoid specifics so they couldn't come back to bite her. Couric and other journalists know this is politician trick so they ask specific questions for a "gotcha" momement. Let's say she said "The New York Times". They would have then asked who her favorite Times writer is. If she doesn't know this then it's "Gotcha". If she answers this then the next question is: What did you think of his article on X and so on and so forth till they come to the gotcha moment.

Palin gave me the impression that she, indeed does NOT read very much in regards to foreign affairs and was much less informed than scores of regular posters on Free Republic.

And when was the last time you met and talked to Gov. Palin?

This reminds me of the day after election in 1994. I was scheduled to give a talk at the House of Representatives, sponsored by one of Washington's conservative think tanks. The place was a madhouse. All the staffers who had worked for defeated candidates were suddenly facing the loss of their jobs. They were scurrying around like cockroaches when you suddenly turn on the light, trying to get hired by the incoming Representatives.

Suffice it to say I didn't have much of an audience.

That's not the exact question she was asked. That's a downstream interpretive presentation of what seemed to have been asked, that is, it is propaganda.

Frankly, if I read the NYT, the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post and the LA Times regularly I'd have to say I didn't get any meaningful ideas at all from any of them, and I would imagine you wouldn't either unless you a braindead Democrat, then any idea is a "new idea".

BTW, not all graduate study has to do with getting an MD. There are many other fields of endeavor. Ms. Palin's undergraduate career is typical of people with little money to spend on higher education. They work their way through college, and take their opportunities as they come up.

Your interest in her college career is intriguing. Weren't you around when we discussed several threads that covered the topic?

BTW, Abraham Lincoln was self-taught. You knew that, right?

Note ~ there are Freepers in Wasilla and elsewhere in Alaska. Some of them are not so distant cousins whose Great Grandfather moved there in the 1930s as part of a New Deal plan to raise vegetables.

They don't follow FR to the degree that I do but they're all Sarah Palin fans. Some day I may get to meet them ~

Steve Schmidt is another M4-Romney RomneyAttackBOT plunging a knife into
Gov. Palin and her children for the pooch- and GOP-screwing Mitt-Romney.

"Schmidt was importuned by several of the Republican aspirants for president earlier this year.
Mitt Romney sent him an antique chair to symbolize a seat at the table."

Would any of the ROmneyBOTS share with FReeRepublic a picture of that chair their Master sent his minion?

If you bother to read the original exchange, I responded to a post that implied that 5 different colleges in undergraduate was a positive.

Whether you like it or not, multiple jobs or multiple schools in undergraduate DO constitute a Red Flag for employers that prompts the question, "Why?".

Whether Palin could "cut it" or not academically is a question neither you nor I can answer because her college transcript has never been released.

The difference between the two of us is that you seem to be a "Move along. There's nothing here to see" kinda guy and I am not.

I just sent her an e-mail.

She has access to my wallet, but the RNC does not.

I will donate to individual conservatives.

The RNC will not get a dime until they purge themselves of elitist RINOs.

I agree that it’s really about her faith. I wonder how many of her attackers even realize that themselves.

To: Thank You Rush

I have placed calls to state offices—they are answering and I sent email to FOX news—I told FOX, I chose cable provider based on offering FOX—now could care less! I told RNC I will never work for a campaign and/or donate again. They are pathetic.

Fox News reports that Palin didn't know Africa was a continent and did not know the member nations of the North American Free Trade Agreement -- the United States, Mexico and Canada -- when she was picked for vice president.

I don't care for Palin, and won't support her in 2012 (unless she very publicly renounces all of her pro-amnesty comments), but Fox going after Palin was some of the worst political coverage I have ever seen. Why would the Governor of Alaska need to know about NAFTA and who cares if she's not up on world geography? The woman is from a sparsely populated state that doesn't share much in common with the lower 48, it's not her fault. From the clips I saw, I agree with Bill O'Reilly, she could have been tutored on this stuff. She appears to be a fast learner.

Besides, she had a lot more negatives than something like not knowing about NAFTA or Africa. The fact that this stuff is getting the attention speaks volumes about how shallow elections have become.

My husband was 25 when he finished college, and he started when he was 18.

Most people would think that he had some academic problems based on that information - 7 years to finish college.

However, his parents stopped supporting him when he was 18 and he had to pay for college on his own. He worked and went to college. Sometimes, he had to take semesters off in order to finish college.

He only went to 2 colleges because he found work near those colleges. However, it may have been more colleges if he had to move to find work.

He is now a very successful director of a computer company in the Silicon Valley.

It was an accident that he was ever our nominee

It wasn't an accident that he was nominated- it was planned that way by those in charge of the party that think they are so much smarter than we are and were convinced we needed a RINO to win. The problem we have to figure out how to solve is keeping it from happening again. The way the primaries work now the nominee is selected by Republicans in the East and they are generally less conservative so they pick RINOs. It's all a done deal before many of the states that will vote for conservatives even have their primary. I don't know how to fix it, but it has to begin early on in the process.
