Obama's victory : Silence around you (testimonies)
November 06, 2008 | Robin Masters

Posted on 11/06/2008 5:55:13 AM PST by RobinMasters

In this thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2126850/posts?page=13) some people shared their experiences about what they saw after the Election.

Carley said : "You could see shock and awe on the faces of most people yesterday. The commuter train in NJ was filled with silent people, black and white, wondering just what they hell they had done.

The trip was eerily silent when it’s usually filled with people chatting away."

or jnygrl : "My husband takes NJ Transit. He said his train was silent yesterday until it stopped at Newark."

Please, feel free to share what you've experienced around you. It would be useful for some FReepers or others.

Doh, sorry about missing the sarcasm in your post. I’ll take back my reaction, but now I know we can stand together in defense of the information.

Keep the faith, FRiend.

Here is what I posted and I actually meant it was the successful economy of GW Bush that did us in.

But admittedly I didn't spell it out clearly enough.

...........................................

The GW Bush economy did us in.

NYC Liberals from NYC flooded the rural areas, and brought with them city liberalism.
Orange county being the fastest growing county in the state of NY 9 of the last 11 years.

Hello Virginia ? (among many, many others)

My brother in law is a farmer in Louisiana. He has a lot of black people work for him and the day after the election none of them showed up.

Ah, now I get it. I took that as seperate statements, not that such a good economy allowed people to improve their lives, thus infecting red areas with blue philosophies.

Sorry about that.

Are you home, Allegra, or still in Baghdad?

I'm still in Baghdad.

If you're still in Iraq, what are the reactions of the Iraqis like? Are any of them concerned that they're now in greater danger, that having trusted America to "stay the course" they're about to be betrayed and abandoned just like we've done to so many of our allies before?

They're very worried about that. They know we here didn't vote for The Idiot, but that's little consolation to them now.

I also fear that this election will re-invigorate AQ and that they will step up attacks on the heroes that have volunteered to make the world a better place and to protect my freedoms.

Some terrorists made a little noise yesterday for the first time in ages, but today was quiet.

I will pray for you and the safety of all!

Thank you so much. It is appreciated more than you know.

Please remember that 57M of us held our nose and voted for McCain.

We did here, too. The absentee ballots were flying out of this place. We just don't know if they ever got counted.

A wake for Capitalism? If things get bad, we could hold formal ones in parks, with thousands of us holding lit candles, cellphones flipped on and bouquets of the red, white and blue.

These people voted to enslave me...

Well, what goes around sometimes comes around. Just because reparations are a terrible idea doesn't mean that spiritual reparations don't exist...just as the consequences of physical slavery were visited upon many generations, some of those negative consequences also come home to roost on the descendents of slave owners.

Families were either broken up on plantations; or female slaves were oft' treated merely as "breeders" with no marriage ever taking place. Generations later, marriage still was "optional" in many urban families, breeding dependency.

Fortunately, an early rich African-American tradition was established to offset this and leave a lasting legacy -- the same kind of tradition you find in old African spirituals -- where they identified with Jewish slaves and depended upon God for liberty. The problem was that too many allowed their "Moses the Liberator" to cast a shadow over God as redeemer...and ever since they've sought a human "Messiah" who will lead them to the Promised Utopian Land.

Whenever conservative ideals buy into reinforcing man as being dependant upon government -- like what the Bush administration was cajoled into doing after the hurricanes -- then they become "slave owners" to a small degree much like the plantation kings of previous generations.

This false gospel of depending upon any entity other than God -- and the primary channels God chooses to operate through (being neighbors and church communities) -- is just as repugnant when it's fostered by conservatives as when it's fostered by "the Great Society" mongers.

...are malefactors to my family.

Functional malefactors, perhaps. But may I remind you that many of these so-called "malefactors" are in our churches; our own homes -- or children's homes?

Also, God judges individuals in eternity but He judges nations in time. Which means if He sees enough of a "malefactor" yeast in a nation, we all may suffer drastically. And if we don't intercede for that yeast presence, we are part of the problem.

This vote was symptomatic of deeper issues -- not only a reflection of underlying major misfunctions of those who trust in Govt vs. trusting in God -- but also of us who have failed to intercede for the Government trusters. According to 2 Chronicles 7:14, God even holds the intercessors more responsible than the target of those intercessors -- because He's expect more of His power and Presence to be operative in His people.

Why? I don’t want to associate with people who would elect this clown.

Association always needs to be weighed with this question: Who is influencing the other more? If a negative association is a detriment to you and/or your family, then that's understandable. But if you are strong in your convictions and can stand being "countered" and if you are influencing them more, then what do you have to lose?

...I’m only dating conservative women from now on.

Amen. We need more conservative men who would make such a commitment.

There will be a whole lot of un-returned phone calls and emails in the future. I am surrounded by 0bama supporters (my district went 75-25) and I am growing tired of it. I’ve been in a ‘blue’ state or district in every place I’ve lived, and I just can’t stand it anymore. If the local housing economy recovers, I am moving the heck out of here to a battleground state where my vote might actually make a difference.

Well, critical mass is important. You can't influence others alone. If you don't have similar others willing to stand with you in that environment to try to make a difference, then I understand.

0bama supporter friends and relatives are going to be treated like strangers. With politeness, but nothing of substance.

Still, for as long as where the Lord has planted you, measure the receptivity level of those who call & e-mail you and ask, "which 2 or 3 of these folks would actually listen to my convictions?" I say, "OK, take the 'polite' route with the rest of them, but commit to 2 or 3 to be better friends and love them unconditionally."

After all, God has loved us unconditionally before we were ever on board for any of His causes. If we're harder on others hoop-wise before God (who has had the perfect right to be hard), then what does that say about the lack of grace and mercy and humility in our lives?

Thanks for the feedback. Please keep us posted about things there in Baghdad. I know the FR community would appreciate it.

I need to step away from this thread for a bit as I better catch some fresh air before a section meeting.

Talk to you soon.

I fear for my family’s finances and my country’s status. I told my husband I want to move out of this country. We started researching Canada. I don’t want to be here when the problems start. I have no interest in anything. I take my daughter to school and there isn’t any conversation. All the parents would talk and laugh and now it is just us waiting around for the doors to open so our kids can go in. It is so depressing. I’ve worked so hard to give my daghter a better life than I had and here is this supposed man getting ready to destroy her future.
Has everone signed the petition? Let’s do what we can to raise eyebrows. If enough people rally, you never know.

It was very subdued in my office building and in the office yesterday too, and I know there are a lot of Barry supporters around here. I didn’t hear one person talking about the election. I found it strange too.

Perhaps this silence is a case of 'be careful what you wish for...'

The Dems are PROFESSIONALS at blaming SOMEONE ELSE for their troubles. Maybe it's dawning on them that for the next 2, 4, 8, however many years, they will have no one to blame but THEMSELVES. It will be very tough for them to accept that RESPONSIBILITY.
