Ways to "afford" the pending Obama tax hike.

Obama is going to raise your taxes to give it to those that pay little to know taxes. Here's how I started to afford the Obama tax hikes.

Here’s how I’m handling it.

I typically leave the maid a tip at the hotel I stay at...I’m checking out today so instead of a tip...I left a note:

“I wish I could afford to leave you a tip, but I’m saving for the Obama tax hike. However, I’m sure Obama will take good care of you as he plans to tax me to give it to you. Obama is going to collect your tip from me...take part of it...then pay you the rest.”

Also I typically tip 20% and round up if service at restaurants is good. But now I’m going to default to 15% and round down. Also any slip in service is a 2% cut.

Are there other types of jobs that people typically don't make much money so they are going to "win" in an Obama income redistribution scheme? If so, how can we "get our money back" from day to day dealings with them?

You might be screwing over someone who voted for McCain. Tennessee and Georgia are hurting pretty bad right now, but they went red.

After a pleasant chat with my waiter/waitress, I’ll ask who he or she voted for and then adjust my tip accordingly.

I’m sure in a week or two, you will be unable to find one soul who depends on tips to admit having voted for Obama.
Not one!

Cut my staff by 15 - 20%... only choice I have if the taxes go up!

I noticed last night at dinner, my tip was a little less generous that before. Not cheap, I just rounded down instead of up. I, for one, and going to spend less and try to save more because I am going to have less of my earnings to save for the future.

That's very true. I can do it here in NJ and NYC though. LOL - I kind of like the idea. let's screw over the blue states.

Having worked my way through college as a full time server in a restaurant, I would have to urge you to think twice about this.

You may be hurting those that are actually trying to help themselves.

For Christmas this year, for my Obama hugging relatives, I’m buying goats in their honor from World Vision, to be donated to an African village.

excellent point! How about valet guys, coffee baristas, hair dressers, to start with. They all can get that little extra wealth from our new President.

I am done buying anything from nieces and nephews that are still in school to supplement their “needed funds”. Although I never agreed with this approach, I usually felt guilty if I didn’t do it. Not anymore.

As for non-profits, I will be much less likely to give. My church giving will go up and I will still make a contribution to the Salvation Army, but beyond that, nothing.

The saddest part of the O empire will be the loss of donations to faith based programs. People will assume that there is a govt program to help whoever needs the help. They will then stop giving. This means they will never experience the spiritual rewards of giving. I always think of St. Francis of Assisi’s prayer...”for it is in giving that you receive”. So true on so many levels. I always try to use this argument with my liberal atheist friends but it is way over their heads.

Thanks for the info yesterday!

I’m making donations to St. Judes instead of giving gifts to all my liberal relatives. That way, i get to take the charitable donation deduction on my taxes AND spread the wealth in their honor.
