Ways to "afford" the pending Obama tax hike.

Obama is going to raise your taxes to give it to those that pay little to know taxes. Here's how I started to afford the Obama tax hikes.

Here’s how I’m handling it.

I typically leave the maid a tip at the hotel I stay at...I’m checking out today so instead of a tip...I left a note:

“I wish I could afford to leave you a tip, but I’m saving for the Obama tax hike. However, I’m sure Obama will take good care of you as he plans to tax me to give it to you. Obama is going to collect your tip from me...take part of it...then pay you the rest.”

Also I typically tip 20% and round up if service at restaurants is good. But now I’m going to default to 15% and round down. Also any slip in service is a 2% cut.

Are there other types of jobs that people typically don't make much money so they are going to "win" in an Obama income redistribution scheme? If so, how can we "get our money back" from day to day dealings with them?

I was going to say that-I’m going to make sure I make too little to pay lots of taxes (JOKING FOLKS) and another thing. Several, most so far, do NOT recognize facetiousness unless it jumps up and slaps them in the face.

What would happen do you think if I did write a personal check to the waiter? Would they make him sign it over? If so, I might just try to get their address and send it to them, seriously, this pisses me off. Before I heard this, I always thought I was rewarding my waiter for their excellent service. What incentive do I have to do this, if this is what they do?

Cutting out Alumni donations to liberal schools. I will now send my donations to schools like Hillsville.

Cutting out any donations to the Catholic Church (have you seen how much they donated to ACORN).

yes, taxes are patriotic

Ah, so the small minority of Gov't money used for quality purposes makes taxes patriotic?

I see. How Joe Biden of you. Let's all pay more so we can be considered good Americans!!

Heil Obama!

We bought a new microwave yesterday out of neccessity.
We have decided to make any large purchases before Jan.
If you are going to need a car? New furniture? New tires? buy them now!
After O takes office we will not be spending one thin dime more than we have to.
I even plan to stock up on staples and fill the freezer so I will only have to buy fresh veggies and fruit for several months after Jan.
If enough folks did this, the economy would show our lack of spending and then O will see how little we trust his leadership.
This is just peanuts to many other’s ideas but it all adds up.

Well now, you gotta admit that, “quit working and get on the dole” sounds like it could be sarcasm...or not. To me it sounds like an idea from “Atlas Shrugged”. If you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em, so to speak. Since the whole system is crashing anyway why not accelerate the crash. The sooner we have worldwide disastrophe and cataster the sooner the survivors can get back to living in a sane world.

You can cut out the tip completely by ordering the food “to go”. Nearly every restaurant provides this service (even fancy ones).

I am also NEVER supporting PTAs, since most of those donations are spent for “classroom supplies” at the discretion of liberal teachers. Let the parents of the poor kids who can’t afford paper and pencils use their Obama bonus on their kids instead of their booze.

I will continue to support Booster clubs, however, because school sports and marching band keep kids out of trouble.

I will cease contributing as soon as possible and put my future retirement contributions into tax-free municipal bonds.

That’s still trusting the government! I think you might want to consider gold and silver coins, then the next problem is where to hide them. For the immediate future I have zero confidence in government, I never had much but what little I had is gone.

“Yes, that will help the economy to get moving. Let’s all stay at home since we souldn’t get a night out since everybody can’t afford one.”

Hey, I sacrificed my job in the financial industry so some crook from Fannie and Freddy could get bailed out.

Didn’t Biden call that Patriotic?

Eating out now is going shopping with the kids at Sams club and sampling the treats they put out.

Two months ago I had steak at Peter Luger.

This is actually a good angle with a little refinement.
Make digital and \ or print business cards stating you HAVE to cut back PERSONAL and BUSINESS SPENDING, due to O,Reede,Pulaski, Make sure to use the words DEMOCRATS SOCIALIST TAXES, then send to msm sponsors, restaurant chains, manufacturers etc., weekly monthly, for next 2 years. Grassroots awareness of where the pain comes from. Remind early, remind often.

Let’s screw over the blue states? Already do. Check it out—for every dollar in fed taxes a state pays, how much do they get back? Over and over, the states that went for McCain are the ones who take more than they give, every year.
Alaska, Mississippi, Arkansas, go right down the list. Every state for McCain is screwing over the blue states, and has been for quite some time.

Yup, after 24 yrs as a Republican. Although I tend to think of myself as an American first.

So, many on this site may hate me, flame me and make all kinds of assumptions about me. I still love my Republican neighbors and family members.

And yeah, the economy has been rough on my family already. I’m in SE Florida. Unfortunately the Republican members of my family who were all involved in real estate have suffered the most. Foreclosures and lay-offs. My sister-in-law and her former husband have both been laid-off from their jobs at banks. Hard days ahead for them since they are both in their late 50’s.

The next time a school teacher sends home a list of requests from parents - they could receive a note back that they passed the message on to Obama.

Enjoy the change.

Interesting thread. My simple approach is that I’m going to reduce my income at my primary job (I run two small businesses on the side) in exchange for non-taxable “benefits” that might be worth a heck of a lot to me. Some things might include: (1) more paid time off (at a lower salary); (2) an expanded travel budget for “business” (which always seems to be conducted in places where I like to travel on vacation); and (3) a lot of flexibility in working at home and on the road instead of coming to the office every day.

I have a tax to pay so Obama can then take my money and give it to less paid workers.

Another stupefyingly brilliant excitement of how things actually work, thanks for clearing that up for us.

The realities of life is...

I'll leave this one to the English teachers out there

people are going to take care of what they like to take care of.

I'm nearly overwhelmed by the force of this bit of logic ...

I prefer my family over people I don't know. I could increase my tip to 500% and put my family on the street.

Or you could decrease it to nothing and treat them to an extra night a month at Chucky Cheese

In fact, if you don't give at least 50% tip...I think you're stingy.

There you go, trying to think again ... that's where you invariably get yourself in trouble.

See how stupid you sound now?

ha ha ha ha ... right

A lot of the restuarants pool the tips I’ve heard, them dole them out. Sorta like the govt. When I heard that it really made me mad. Is that what you guys have heard too?

I don't think it's such a bad thing for restaurants to do this. This is how they share tips with members of the staff who work very hard in low-paying jobs (like the kitchen help) but don't have the opportunity to get tips because they never interact with the customers.

Maybe you can write a bestselling novel: “Atlas Stiffs The Maid.” It is sure to be a timeless classic.

Thanks for the laugh, Larry.

That one gets a solid vote from me for the second-best variation on the name of Ayn Rand's famous book . . . right after the one someone posted here last night that will go down in history as an all-time classic:

"Atlas Barfed"

I personally can’t wait to get out of NJ. Just biding my time until my son finishes school. Believe it or not, the Jersey shore was once a really nice place to live. I’m certainly not retiring here.

We could use a lot of Rand's ideas. Let's all be John Gault.
