Rush Limbaugh: Time to cleanse Republican Party
World Net Daily ^ | 11/5/08

Posted on 11/05/2008 1:23:02 PM PST by truthandlife

Radio host Rush Limbaugh, the loudest conservative voice in American politics , today blasted John McCain's presidential campaign as weak and said Barack Obama's election as president is an opportunity to purge the Republican Party of candidates who abandon conservative principles.

"McCain's whole campaign was a concession speech," said Limbaugh in his post-election analysis. "We've now demonstrated to everyone how to lose."

Limbaugh dismissed any notion that victories by Democrats in the White House and Congress meant a repudiation of right-leaning principles.

Limbaugh explained conservatism was not on the ballot.

"We haven't been on the ballot since 1994," he said, noting that if Republicans wanted to win elections, they should not put so-called "moderates" on the ballot.

"The conservative movement does not need to be rebuilt," he said. "We had some people abandon the conservative movement, and they need to be abandoned."

The broadcaster called last night's results "an opportunity for cleansing ... like we haven't seen in a long time."

Yeah, I think the Democrats offered up a Marxist and the Republicans offered up a Leftist.

Leaving the majority of America without representation.

Wonder why the heavy reaction to a conservative like Palin and the ABJECT FEAR from the Media and Obama when she showed up.

They both knew that she was “the One” and who the electorate really is. She almost destroyed a multi Billion dollar plan with her first speech. But they kept her under wraps till the smears started to stick, then shoveled her into the most damaging interviews they could edit. Then safely locked her up again till the smear took hold.

Look what happened when she broke away from her handlers and just talked with reporters. Instant poll bump.

This election was fixed, on both sides of the isle. Bought and paid for by Saudi Oil Money and your tax dollars to Acorn. The biggest voting fraud on tv 24/7 and NOBODY brought up the point that a 501c3 looses its license and assets if it becomes political.

Nobody, not even fox.

I feel less like a virgin today.

We have been had folks.

“The majority of the Sheep have said differently - with votes. The Sheep WANT Socialism, and they have handed the country over.”

The people that voted for Obama showed their comtempt for America. The people that voted for Bob Barr did likewise.

McCain was our candidate. I didn’t vote for him in the primary but once he was our candidate I supported him. Financially and emotionally.

I cared too much about our national security, our troops, and our economic security to do anything that would enable the muslim to be president.

That is because McCain chooses to act more like a Democrat then some Democrats. This is my husbands gripe - the GOP put someone up that in many ways went against what the party and base stand for.

"That’s nice Rush is blaming us."

Feeling guilty are we?

Rush didn't blame me for anything and I didn't take what he said that way. McCain never should have been on the ballot, hell after McCain-Fiengold and McCain-Kennedy his sorry ass should have been ejected from the party.

War hero? I'll respect that. What's the man done for conservatives lately?

Exactly

And I agree with Rush, it's time to clean house including right here are FreeRepublic.

McCain probably wasn’t the best Republican candidate this year, but I couldn’t see anyone else doing much better really. The sheeple wanted “change.” But I think this is a lesson to the Republican primary process. Absolutely no independents, I repeat, NO independents (or heaven forbid Democrats) should be allowed to vote in Republican primaries. Let’s have the registered Republicans chose the Republican candidate and not any fence-sitters, geez! I think this helped McCain initially is some of the more “blue” state primaries. I also think it would be wise to move up some of the more conservative states earlier in the voting process. How about states like Alabama, Texas, Idaho, Alaska and Virginia moving up their primaries to late January or early February? That would help a more conservative candidate get some momentum early in the primary process so we can get a true conservative nominated in 2012 (Jindal, Palin?). Does anyone agree or disagree with me?

"Moderate" Republicans were given carte blanche opportunity to demonstrate, once and for all, that they knew how to win at the national level, this year.".

And AS USUAL - they fail miserably and demonstrate ZERO guts.

RINO-Globalists like Bush I, Bush Jr. and McCain have destroyed the GOP and left it a political invalid.

I dumped a ton of bookmarks from my browsers today, including Fox News and I swore I would never again read articles from Fred Barnes, Kathleen Parker, and the rest of the "Limousine Republicans" that serve as pundits for the conservative side. We need to purge these people from our midst and find others who aren't concerned about speaking the truth which might cause them not to get invited to Washington dinner parties!

Remember when Coke came out with new coke and stopped making coke classic. The new coke was a sweater recipe to compete with Pepsi. Well the people spoke and given a choice between Pepsi and Pepsi lite (new coke) its sales dropped like a rocket. Given a choice between Socialism (Democrats) and Socialism lite (Rhinos and Compassionate Conservatism). Americans choose real Socialism the Democrats. Americans like brand name products. Clones will get some of the market share but seldom the market share of the original. You have to look at all these 40 year old and younger as a bunch of people brought up on years of marketing. We the Republicans have to give people something to vote for not against the other guys. Just as Coke came back with Coke Classic, the Republicans need to come back with Republican Classic. These folks do not remember Jimmy Carter, inflation, high taxes or the Red Scare and the Cold War. They are un-educated ignorant masses ready for manipulation by good marketing. Obama and Democrats just did a masterful Marketing campaign. Whine all you want about how un-fair things are, but this is the way things are.

I’m curious as to how true conservatives did nationwide.

Our conservative Representative, Thelma Drake, lost in Virginia. That's going to hurt, too, because her district has one of the largest concentrations of military bases and contractors in the country.

“Have you given some thought to the prospect that what the sheep saw for the last 8 years wasn’t all that different than what Obama was promising and decided to go with the new guy?”

#####

Well stated.

Bush and the Republicans did not develop and foster a palpable alternative-true conservatism.

Obama presents much of the same big government, socialist approach, but shiny, new, and shrink-wrapped, with that irresistable new car smell.

People have been praying for this nation and I fully believe that Obama getting elected is an answer to those prayers. The American people are soft and gullible. And the only way to toughen and smarten them up is put them on the front lines of truth and let them FEEL the effects of their decisions.

That's the best thing I've read all week. Bookmarked for rereading over the next four years, or until They shut off my access.

I agree about Mitch. He is all for “streamlining” government to make it “more efficient.” What he really means is centralization of power in strong state bureaucracies, and doing away with a lot of local elected officials, or at least stripping them of power, particularly budgetary. That doesn’t smack of conservatism to me.

"I'm sure the MSM would have properly respected Gov Romney's religious beliefs and not have made an issue of them in their coverage.

Probably the same respect that Rep Christians gave him in the primaries.

We would be celebrating today if not for their collective intolerance.

Note to Republican Party: You want to win? Then you march out a true, unapologetic conservative that will speak to the base, speak to the base, speak to the base about conservatism while speaking to the country as a whole about traditional American values: Faith, Family, Freedom. The candidate has to believe this, live this, breathe this. Anything less and you are headed for a disaster (see: Bush, Sr., Dole, Bush, Jr. McCain)

Further note: By selecting moderates, you are alienating your base and not “fooling” the rest of the country.

“McCain’s whole campaign was a concession speech,”

With, at least, the shining exception of Sarah Palin.

Did Rush note this?

You’re giving the Sheep credit for actually knowing what Socialism is...

Pray without ceasing for this country. We need it. We have the best ally anyone could ask for. God and his precious Son Jesus Christ. Let’s ask them to fight for us.

That's probably the single best suggestion I've seen on all these "here's what we gotta do...." threads today. God would have spared even Sodom, if ten righteous men could have been found, because a righteous man named Abraham prayed for it. This nation still has many, many true believers and we need to be the salt, light, and intercessors for our nation. I hate to say it, but hithertofore, it seems like the only time Christians really got serious about praying for our country was for the month prior to an election when the Dems were running someone who scared us. THAT needs to change.

Cleansing, hell. Walk away from this disaster of a party and start over. Let the failed GOP “leadership” figure out how they are going to survive without grass root support and funding.
