Radio host Rush Limbaugh, the loudest conservative voice in American politics , today blasted John McCain's presidential campaign as weak and said Barack Obama's election as president is an opportunity to purge the Republican Party of candidates who abandon conservative principles.
"McCain's whole campaign was a concession speech," said Limbaugh in his post-election analysis. "We've now demonstrated to everyone how to lose."
Limbaugh dismissed any notion that victories by Democrats in the White House and Congress meant a repudiation of right-leaning principles.
Limbaugh explained conservatism was not on the ballot.
"We haven't been on the ballot since 1994," he said, noting that if Republicans wanted to win elections, they should not put so-called "moderates" on the ballot.
"The conservative movement does not need to be rebuilt," he said. "We had some people abandon the conservative movement, and they need to be abandoned."
The broadcaster called last night's results "an opportunity for cleansing ... like we haven't seen in a long time."

If people who haven’t woken up hear actual conseravtive arguments, loudly and clearly, at least there’s a chance. And there are a lot of real conservatives who are so sick of the kumbaya moderate crap that don’t vote, they’d be happy to vote for real conservative Rs.
100% agree with you post.
mega dittos bump
Bottom line - blaming Rush solves nothing. Assuming Rush blamed you would be true only if you are one of the people responsible for McLame becoming the nominee in which case you're also not a conservative.
Cheers,
Lloyd
“We put way too much trust into laisse faire capitalism”
You are part of the problem.
Rush is saying we need to go BACK to the basics.
Take your socialism somewhere else.
That’s humorous, but in reality it’s the limp-writsted metrosexuals that cut and run....
That is so freaking right. Any moderate care to take issue with this post?
Thought not.
I see you are still posting your the GOP is GREEDY...crap.
We lost because we lost touch with humanity and dont give a rats a** about the poor, the struggling, the hopeless, as long as somebody doesnt take our precious frigging money from us.
You are a pathetic creature.....
Conservatives, & Republicans are THE most generous people in this country.
We give...more in time and $$ than any other people in this country. We tithe, AND we give, we give, and we give....and YOU want us to give more.
Obama....is this you!!???
Thanks for identifying yourself as part of the problem.
NO MORE NEO-LIBERAL SQUIRREL EATERS IN DRAG!
Thanks for identifying yourself as part of the problem.
Why? Like he created her from clay or something? He picked her out of desparation to add some life to his flaccid campaign. McCain couldn't give a flying F about Palin. Watch how he acts when she runs in '12.
See tagline.
Guess who Obama picked for his Chief of Staff?
Rahm Emanuel
Yep...that’s what we needed...fer sure./s
McCain backers won’t need to lecture anyone for standing against them after these guys get done.
My point exactly...he acts more like a Dim then some Dim’s. Honestly, none of what the GOP was touting this time out with the exception of Huckabee even remotely interested me. My vote was against Obambi.
Rahm Emanuel - Probably McRino’s first pick anyway - right after Colin Powell.
Bush said from the beginning that he wanted to bring a "new tone" to Washington. He never promised to be a fighter.
Just look how popular that new tone has made him. The Dems took every opportunity to stab him in the back. There is no true bipartisanship in their playbook.
There is no longer any room for compromise, they must be defeated
As a subsequent poster suggested, Conservatives were presented with a lesser of evils choice. McCain had spent his career gleefully sticking his thumb in our eyes which may have somewhat lessened his attractiveness to conservatives as a potenmtial leader. Also, my friend, a delightful VP choice was not enough to overcome a disjointed, off message dreadfully poor campaign.
Democrats’ recent successes have resulted from their ability to hang together and to enforce hanging together. Motivated, no doubt, by a desire to retain and expand their power and avoid getting their butts kicked. Republicans, as we’ve clearly seen in ‘06 and ‘08 apparently have not learned to do this nearly as well as democrats and we have been hanging separately. The open tent and adjusting the core message for all who can crowd inside was an abject failure. If we cannot learn to keep our internal battles strictly private and coalesce around a conservative center, they will continue to pick us off one at a time.
If you’re truly offended by what Rush said in his first hour today, then bless you, my friend, go locate another coalition that you find more amenable.
