The Republican Party isn’t dead...but it’s on life support awaiting a cure.

Well, if the Republicans ever are to regin their status they will need to have spokespersons for the conservative values than the RINO’s. I was at least glad to see Shays get defeated.

I’m picturing McCain back in the Senate...reaching across the aisle...for a handout.

If liberals can run a liberal state, be my guest let them run it, I do not care.

The problem is that brain-dead pinkos are incapable of running anything.

It took them awhile but the Chicago Machine did it again.

Slowly but steadily the left infiltrated and indoctrinated the masses, melding minds of the young and the ignorant to do their bidding.

Mao and Joe would be proud.

Those buzz words are part of character education, a job parents used to do at home but now must be done by "educators"....

Everyone needs to see the movie "Idiocracy" Although vulgar in spots, it's about the people of the future who communicate through advertising slogans. "Branding", "logos", "buzz words"-- How about "retroactive tax increases", "redistribution of wealth", "the fairness doctrine"--I can figure those out in a hurry.

while Obama was bestriding the broader cultural space

True enough, but the 'broader cultural space' has become a field where halfwits play, and are easily seduced by single syllable words like 'hope' and 'change', incapable of considering their implications.

Mark gets it.

When you surrender the schools, the media, the bureaucracies, entertainment, etc. to the other side you’re not left with a lot of ammunition with which to mount an attack.

Check this out for a wake up call...

“Republicans need to start their own long march back through all the institutions they ceded.”

And when they get done with that long march, they will find an America so radically reshaped by immigration that no one will understand their english.

Republicans will make a comeback only after they return to their conservative roots. That process starts with the replacement, with principled conservatives, of all of the Republicans’ elected congressional leaders, as well as most members of the Republican National Committee and most state party officials. It’s time for new leaders, from top to bottom.

Agreed.

I wrote this to a friend last night who asked me why I thought McCain and the Republicans lost or were in such decline.

1) Selecting a moderate as a candidate is suicide. To wit, some great moderates in recent Republican history: Ford, Bush Sr., Dole, McCain, need I say more? They are all losers because given the choice between voting democrat or democrat light, the voters select the real brewsky. So called moderates stand for NOTHING. Granted, McCain stood for something from a national security standpoint but NOTHING economically. His campaign was DONE when he suspended it during the Wall Street crisis, went to DC and promptly did NOTHING, proposed NOTHING, and blamed or attacked the democrats for NOTHING never-minding the fact that it was they who caused the whole mess.

2) Conservatism wins. McCain was dead in the water until he finally woke up and started calling Obama (henceforth known as our Dear Leader) a socialist and a liberal. Too bad big Mac did this too late in the process. At least Palin had the guts to do this. Absent this, you can bet this election would have been even more of a blowout. Palin now goes onto bigger things, McCain goes back to being the poke your thumb in the eye of the Republican Party darling of the New York Times. I wonder how many fillibusters this fool will fail to support?

3) The media had power over the Republicans and McCain and us because the Republicans and McCain and us GAVE them the power by listening to them in the first place. We all fail to treat the media for exactly what it is, an extension of the democrat party, no more, no less. So how about this, we all tune them out and get on the internet and find out what is going on for ourselves. There are a ton of good organizations out there like freerepublic.com. . ..well, at least until our Dear Leader shuts them down with the so called “Fairness Doctrine.”

4) Reach across the aisle to a democrat, draw back a stump. Their definition of bi-partisanship is caving into their demands, PERIOD. We have enough votes to fillibuster every damn communist proposal, just as they blocked every Republican proposal when we were in the majority. If you think about it, we are exactly where the dems were after 2004, well a bit worse off. They parlayed a severe minority into the majority of today by using the fillibuster. I say use it on every judge and use it on anything and everything. I mean, what is going to happen, we are going to get voted into the minority? Oooooops, we are already hopelessly there.

5) Stop bringing a knife to a gun fight. Mac certainly was gracious in defeat. Perhaps that is because he thinks his “good friends” across the aisle would have been gracious if they lost. Well Mac, think again. If you had won tonight every state’s National Guard would have been called out to put down riots. The dems simply declare any election they lose to be illegitimate or stolen. So be it. I hereby declare this election illegitimate because of ACORN, because the dems stole it. There, that was easy. Now I can treat Obama as Bush was treated and blame the son of a bitch for EVERYTHING that goes wrong in this country. Might not work, however, because no matter how bad Obama is the dems will defend him to the bitter end. Only Republicans eat their own.

6) The democrats will commit voter fraud and any other crime that gets them elected, PERIOD. Screaming and crying about it is not enough. It is time to get our own organization to do what is necessary to get Republican votes counted, twice if necessary. Oh yah, how did that McCain-Feingold thingy work out for you tonight Mac? It certainly did get the money out of politics, too bad it was only the Republican money.

7) Ok, some of us hate Bush. But the dems could have Adolph Freaking Hitler as their President and they would defend the guy to the ends of the Earth and back and then more, just for shits and giggles. Abandoning the President in your own party regardless of how big an idiot you may feel he is. is a sure formula for disaster. The Republicans abandoned Bush and paid for it with a loss of his popularity and theirs. I can’t tell you how many times a Republican friend of mine would say to me, “this is America, I hate Bush, we don’t elect Kings and he is acting like one.” I would reiterate that given the alternative we should stick with Bush. He would look at me with a blank stare and insist that he hoped Bush would be impeached. He supported McCain in this election and is in shock today. I wonder how Bush is looking now compared to Our Dear Leader the Overlord Messiah? You know, the guy that wants to bring back the draft and create his own civilian defense force that is equipped like the U.S. Army. The guy who wants to shut down talk radio. The guy whose campaign had a private citizen investigated just because he asked him a question about spreading the wealth. I predict that in one year from now those slamming Bush will get on their hands and knees praying tp God for the days of George W. Bush.

8) Entangling us in foreign wars is a bad idea if you are not prepared to fight the enemy on all fronts. . . .that means the democrats (the media included) because they will side with the foreign enemy every time. I mean, think about it. Iraq was lost according to the democrats. Our troops were labeled murderers and thugs by Jack Murtha and John Kerry. Think about it, a foreign war was declared lost by our own side and now we have won said war. Now the democrats can’t avoid talking about Iraq fast enough. Did anyone hear Iraq brought up in the last months of the campaign? Why is this? Because the democrats knew they were wrong. But what do they care, their opposition to the war served its purpose. It turned the country against Bush and the Republicans (who abandoned Bush and did not call the democrats on their actions). It got the “Blame Republicans for Everything” train rolling down the tracks.

9) Finally, the democrats must be called what they are. They are the enemy of liberty and not merely an opposition party. They are not your Dad’s democrats. They are sworn leftists who have one goal, namely, POWER. They will take any position (siding with the Vietcong during the Vietnam war, for example), do any act and take any step necessary to win. Learn it, love it, live it. Honestly, doesn’t anyone think it was odd that the Wall Street crisis broke right in October? Anyone think it odd that Fannie and Freddie were democrat run organizations that collapsed and caused the whole mess?

Well, happy Commy Day everyone!!! Embrace your new overlords and remember, ask not what your country can do for you, but how much your checkbook can do for your country.

Wow. Just wow. What MS piece really illustrates is the vaccuum or void into which BO poured salve on a psychic wound that has exsisted since more and more Americans have abandoned faith in God. Hope? Change? Those are religious words, and you and I and every faith filled FReeper knows we don’t look to govt. for that. We look to Jesus Christ for hope and change within.

I have no faith in government damn it, I just want a government to do what we need them to and no more. Stay the hell out of my life. To be honest with all you friends here, that may be my problem, maybe yours. I have got to start wrapping my mind around other things, hmmm, maybe like my Jesus. He alone truly is my hope, change, salvation. Not government.

What’s so scary is that Barack Obama knows people have abandoned God and he exploited that to create for them a false god with false hope just to win power. They set us up folks. George Bush was Satan for them. Now, Barack Obama is their savior. We are the apostates. Lord help us.

Considering the political and economic environment, we didn’t get beat that bad. It’s too bad W didn’t vigorously defend his policies and Republicanism while under intense partisan attack.

The right wing needs to be more partisan. One thing Daily Kos reminded us is that nice guys finish last. We don’t have to be as insane as Kosites, but we need to sting.

I would like to see Mitch McConnell immediately mount a loyal opposition to Obama’s economic plans and save the use of the filibuster for bottom line issues like the unfairness doctrine and radical supreme court justices.

Taking back MSM or academia will take generations. I suppose a campaign of civil rights violations in hiring or hostile environment would be the best strategy.

The timing of the sub prime financial collapse was sure coincidental. I hope we can find a smoking gun to prove it was a Democrat conspiracy. The whole thing has Schumer stink on it.

In 1994, the GOP came in with the goal of reducing taxes, reducing government, and reducing spending. They accomplished none of this. The Dept of Education, the most useless Federal Department, still stands. There are other deparments that should never have evolved beyond the state level....too numerous to list. They failed for two reasons. Firstly, that corruption money that gets spread around in D.C. enticed them to sell-out. Secondly, and most importantly, the ‘94 congress lacked confidence in its own political movement. Down deep, it didn’t believe in making government smaller. It didn’t believe in cutting spending. And, today, the GOP doesn’t know what it believes.

"Bill Bennett asked me on the air the other day why voters were so hot for this hope’n’change mush, and I suggested that it’s the dominant vernacular of the age. "

- liberals angered by Bush-Cheney and the Iraq war

- young voters dumbed down by secular humanist public education and television (who simply didn't know any better)

- the middle class and working class crunched by the economy who were led to believe Obama's giveaway promises

- elderly worried about retirement and medicare

The most interesting meme of this election was the GOP's discovery of the plight of the middle class and working class American - i.e., Joe the Plumber. But too little, too late. Maybe next time?

We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great great-great grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bedwetters.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That a whole lot of people were confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim that they require a Bill of Non Rights.

• ARTICLE I — You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any form of wealth.
More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

• ARTICLE II — You do not have the right to never be offended.

This country is based on freedom, and that means the freedom for everyone, not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots and probably always will be.

• ARTICLE III — You do not have the right to be free from harm.
If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful. Do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

• ARTICLE IV — You do not have the right to free food and housing.
Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generations of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

• ARTICLE V — You do not have the right to free health care.
That would be nice but, from the looks of public housing, we’re just not interested in government run health care.

• ARTICLE VI — You do not have the right to physically harm other people.

If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim or kill someone, don’t be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

• ARTICLE VII — You do not have the right to the possessions of others.

If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don’t be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won’t have the right to a big screen TV or a life of leisure.

• ARTICLE VIII — You don’t have the right to demand that our children risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience.

We hate oppressive governments and won’t lift a finger to stop you from going to fight, if you’d like. However, we do not enjoy parenting the entire world and do not want to spend so much of our time battling each and every little tyrant with a military uniform and a funny hat.

• ARTICLE IX — You don’t have the right to a job.

All of us sure want all of you to have one, and will gladly help you in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

• ARTICLE X — You do not have the right to happiness.

Being an American means that you have the right to pursue happiness — which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

happened in Late 2005 when he set himself up as the head of the “gang of 14” in the Senate or something as silly as that.

He placed himself between the President and wanted to be a subset of the Legislative/Executive branches of Gov’t. If he had shown the same energy in supporting the President as he showed in thwarting him, then he would have not had to worry about his base. His whole “base” was sand not Conservative.
