It's over. Nov. 5 has come, and no matter whom you were rooting for, many political animals say the day after an election can bring on a special sort of blues. The bored kind.
"It's almost kind of a surreal feeling. [...] When her father's campaign ended during the Republican primaries, Huckabee said she felt more than a sense of loss.
"It felt like it didn't hit us until a couple of weeks later when we were like, 'Uh, what do we do now?' You don't know how to have a normal life anymore," [...]
"Getting back to the real world is probably one of the hardest things," she said. [...] Bill McConochie, the founder of Political Psychology Research, Inc.[...]
"What I do know from my research is there are two types of political animals, if you will," McConochie said. According to McConochie, how far a person falls on either end of a spectrum of "liberal" or "conservative" traits will determine how serious they will take a victory or defeat on Election Day: The more extreme in views, the more important the election.
"Their reaction will simply depend on how strongly a person is invested in the election process," said McConochie.

My sympathies on the loss of your dog . . .
For the republic, well, we’re all in this together.
That’s the ticket. I can always work off the stress on a range.
One good thing that comes out of this defeat is we now get to see which party takes defeat like men.
I’m so sorry.
It’s bad enough being 47 and wondering what the remainder of your life will be like.
It must be hell to be so young with so many potentially draconian years before you.
I will pray for you both, as I’m sure many others here will.
I was gonna go with drinking, but decided to spend the money at my local gunshop instead. Need to call ahead next time to save a reservation!!! Packed.
“Survived worse we have.”
Maybe Yoda survived worse but, for us, this is the worst thing ever to have happened to America.
I’ll be honest here, I am a little depressed and deeply sad for our country...the country we will no longer have. Mostly disappointed, though.....going the grieving process will be difficult....but I suppose we need to “cowboy up”, lock and load....and move forward...
The question is.... how?
“(example: health care reform is off the table)”
Where are you hearing this?
Is it really a lock?
If so, that’s the only good news I’ve had today.
Bradley County (TN) went heavily for McCain/Palin. The margin was 74 percent.
It was 28,324 for McCain/Palin and 9,353 for Obama/Biden

Thanks so much for posting this post elecion drivel.
This Lauren Cox person is a doofus, unintelligent writer to say the least. A Mouth peice of things I dont care about. If she really cared about us, she’d be one of an entire army of media folk, doing thier goddam job, making sure our election went down fair. I’m done with MSM libtards like you, and you know what Lauren, I’m OK with that. Don’t try to help me “Lauren” if that’s your real name. You wanna help me cope? Give me justice, fair chance, and equality. and tell your little libtard media brothers and sisters to do thier goddam job, oops I gess it’s too late now. well, I tried. And you, Lauren Cox, did nothing, and now you want to help me “COPE”. STHU! OH and by the way,You’ll be among the first of the “benificairies” of you sowed.
I'm with you. I was thinking this morning of either signing up for food stamps and welfare (after the year my Gen. Contractor Hubby has had, we'd qualify!) or upping our Blockbuster online subscription from 1 movie to 3! I've kept the TV on Showtime, History, Discovery channels since voting yesterday. It's like the opposite of how I felt after 9/11... hated movies or anything non 9/11 related.
I'll upgrade our blockbuster subscription AND get a new library card. :) Like you said... when the revolution starts, I'll know by hearing the gunfire.
Not really depressed here. Angry and scared for our safety and freedom, yes. I am just mad and annoyed with all those morons out there who did this to our nation. But feeling hate and bile will accomplish nothing. Nixon said when you hate your enemies you just destroy yourself. No point in feeling the burden for what went wrong. There is nothing any individual could have done to change it. I guess now we just have to hope for the best and continue to fight for our beliefs.
aaaaand... The Clinton's are finally done! We do have THAT silver lining! Cause everybody knows that Hillary and Bill are just going to fade away now... I mean, really. they are soooo over... right?.... RIGHT?!
(cue Jaws theme... dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-dum...)
I’m hearing this on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. The rationale is that the Federal budget mess and economic issues we face will force the new President and Congress to restrain new spending... And massive expenditures for new health care programs will be the first to go.
Now if there is a second term.....
I’m not depressed but I am mad as hell. Mad that so many people in this country bought into this cult of celebrity and mad that too many conservatives split their efforts for so long between rinos and other candidates who had no chance at all. It resulted in a barely acceptable candidate who was unwilling to fight hard, down and dirty from the start. Conservatives could have taken a concerted and focused approach as the opposition did and they could have all pushed hard behind the candidates instead of ignoring them and in some cases denigrating them and yes I hold Mitt the Twit in particular contempt. The democrats are not our friends nor do they love or respect our republic and the constitution. Saying that they are really good people and we just differ in opinion is a sellout. They will do everything in their power to destroy our ability to ever have a free and valid election again so saying that the american people will come around in four years may be an impossible expectation. This was a critical juncture for our country and for our constitution; conservatives failed the country and the constitution. We bickered and stabbed our candidates in the back rather than forcefully making political war on the democrat. Four years out if the party of traitors has not taken away the ability of any opposition party to run and win I am afraid that conservatives will repeat all of the same mistakes. For those of you who voted your conscience with a third party or who did not vote at all I hold you in the highest disdain. You purposely disregarded the threat to the republic and cast votes that simply widened the margin. You put your personal feelings about the candidate ahead of what was right for the country. Nothing will be done about the rampant and blatant cheating by the democrat party and it will become even more entrenched than it already is. Bush will fail to use any of his powers to seek out and prosecute the election thieves and will never consider any EOs to try to preclude some of the things the democrats will attempt. You can be sure however that BO will use EOs to sidestep the constitution and our rights wherever he can. Finally, bipartisanship be damned. The democrats have never believed in bipartisanship and conservatives are ignorant to believe in it. The democrat party has finally achieved their goal of total power that eluded them in 1860. The difference is that now they will attempt to establish socialist slavery on us all.
I’m sorry to hear about your pet. My sincere condolences.
That sound will be my recall to service to the country. I swore to protect and defend the constitution and I still hold to that oath.
Right now, things would have to get lots worse to match 79 and 80 under Carter. I lived it. I know. My parents lived through the Great Depression. We’ve got a loooooong way to go to match that.
