‘twould’ve been nice to get rid of Murtha.

A Congressman who calls his constituents racists and rednecks and they still re-elect him. I'm flabbergasted.

If Chambliss gets from 49.8 to 50.0% there will be no runoff.

100% reported, am I missing something?

Chet99 is right. Those are not the final totals. They are still counting.

Current status:

75% reported

Gordon Smith: 48% 521,203

Jeff Merkley: 47% 506,852

Still 25% to go.

He is a low taxes advocate, so he’s not Arlen Spector redux.

If that’s the case then Smith is comfortably ahead by 14,000+ votes as opposed to 4,500+.

The Oregon race is not over. The Sec of State’s numbers are way behind CNN’s. Smith is up about 15k with 75% in.

I guess it depends on where those remaining 20+% yet to be counted are coming from, but it is looking at least decent. If Chet99 is right that most of what remains are democratic strongholds, it could very well get very tight again before this is over.

Man, it’s not THAT bright - - Smith is a coward who ran from the Democrat newsrooms like a scared bunny rabbit.

True, it’s a glimmer at best, but Gordon Smith sure beats the alternative...

It could be worse; be glad you aren’t a Republican voter in Clark County WA...

I don’t think this is over yet. Just checked the SOS website and it’s the other way around right now.

It used to be in Oregon the later returns were always rural areas, so they would reliably break for conservatives. But more recently the larger metro areas are the late returns and tend to favor the left. There are a few reasons one can imagine that it has trended in this direction - but as one who believes vote fraud is a reality and that it occurs in this state, one reason immediately comes to mind.
