How to Obama-proof your portfolio (surviving socialism)

With the election of Barack Obama almost assured, investors now have to figure out what it means for their individual portfolios. Will the technology sector benefit or suffer with Obama? That's my main concern. It's hard to tell, since Obama has not been specific about the concerns of the tech sector. We do know that Obama will have to push the alternative-energy agenda and the greenhouse-gas/carbon-footprint agenda. He also promised a reduction in dependence on foreign oil. This may mean good news for the semiconductor business, where smarter electronics translate into more energy efficiency. I perpetually like Intel Corp. Corporation as an investment in this regard, but the entire semiconductor sector could do well. All this, of course, is dependent on the economy not going totally into the tank like it's 1929. But how does an investor protect himself or herself when we really don't know what's going to happen?

Step one; assume Obambi will do the worst type of things to our economy..
Step two: if you rightly assumed that this newly elected (fraudulenty most likely) freak will KILL the economy, I say downsize as soon as possible.
I’m sorry, I needed to say it.

Who is going to want to risk investing in stock companies when The Marxist has already promised to raise taxes on those companies and to raise taxes on capital gains?

Taking your "downsize" plan a step further, if the left wants a "depression", let's give them one.
We need to learn to live on less for the tenure of the chosen one. Put off that new car for 4 more years...hell, mine is 9 years old and working just fine.
Don't buy any new housing for four years.
Buy only the necessities (which after four years of Zero is all we'll be able to do.).
The only way to combat this fool is to put the economy further in the tank than it was when he took office.

Does Obama consider Chavez's, 'Venezuela oil', foreign - or is this just 'oil' from our neighbor next door?

ditto...the only solution is to refuse to participate. I think survival mode, not prosperity mode, is the proper stance now for all conservatives. They can’t finance their new playground if the producers aren’t contributing.
To: FrankR
Oh that Obama and the ‘et als’ would care? America ‘on it’s knees’ give them power and ‘reaon to be’ and of course, in the end; it does put money in ‘their’ pockets. It is the ‘third-world’ MO. . .richest of ‘Leaders’. . .while the rest of the country live like surfs; or worse.

Bingo. Ayn Rand got her theology wrong, but her economics true. Atlas may end up shrugging in a big big way the next 4 years. And it'll be what Hussein and the people who voted for him deserve.
Education (the lack of it), Racism (the abundance of it), and Class Envy all contributed mightily to Hussein's election. None of these things creates positive results, as they're all about to learn.
