Bush congratulates Obama on 'awesome night'

US President George W. Bush late Tuesday telephoned his apparent successor, Democrat Barack Obama, to congratulate him on his "awesome night," according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino. "Mr President-elect, congratulations to you. What an awesome night for you, your family and your supporters. Laura and I called to congratulate you and your good bride," she quoted Bush as telling Obama.

"I promise to make this a smooth transition. You are about to go on one of the great journeys of life. Congratulations and go enjoy yourself," Bush told Obama, she said.

The president also invited Obama and his family "to visit the White House soon, at their convenience," Perino said.

Bush was also to reach out to Obama's defeated rival, Republican John McCain, who conceded the fight shortly after 11:00 pm (0400 GMT).

As far as I'm concerned, GW put an end to what was left of Regan's GOP; aided with the earmarking, spend thrilling, and sometimes corrupt republican congress.

Time to start over and clearly reject with extreme prejudice those “Republican(?)” who clearly need to go and to make sure certain others are never let back in (i.e. the whole Bush family)!

ATTN FREEPERS:

I have to say it as I have held my thoughts of Bush in throughout this campaign.

I do not believe the WMD’s
I cannot understand the huge entitlements
I cannot understand Amnesty and open borders

I liked the tax cuts
I liked being safe after 9-11

“Listen up, this is important. We must make Slobama and all his White House staff KEEP AND PROTECT ALL E-MAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES AND ANY AND ALL ELECTRONIC NOTES AND MESSAGES! “

Daily with no exceptions. Every move the guy and his minions make.

Bush is a clown.

It’s cool to say that now right? Back in the day I was to deferential to him.

My first impression as a 17 year old was that I didn’t like him, then McLAME came along and suddenly he looked real good.

W: Congrats, Obama!!!! A great night!!!!

Obama: Thanks for the congrats. Soon we will begin the show trials for you and others in your administration. These trials will last for eight years just to keep reminding all that any problems are really your fault.

Also, we will have you spend some time in the same jail where we sent Gordon Liddy. Be careful there, W!

While he was at it, why didn’t Bush congratulate him for running a great campaign against his administration. Obama defeated Bush tonight.

I have lost all respect for this administration.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm beginning to wonder if Bush really wanted McCain to win. I bet he was afraid of the comparisons that would ensue. Bush would have wound up looking like something of an adolescent relative to McCain.

As I listened to Johns concession speech I was once again impressed with his wisdom.

He was polite, and asked all to embrace the new president.

I started to get mad when I remembered Obama giving the middle finger to the crowd when speaking about hillary.

I also thought about how Obama innocently mentioned a "pig" while the audience laughed, knowing he was calling Sarah one.

John was and is an honorable man.

Obama is a selfish, dishonest, lying teenager, who given the chance will steal the money out of your wallet.

The behavior of the candidates throughout this cycle was so clear.

The journalistic malpractice of the media got Obama elected. With their help, he will never fail.

No. Bush was an ok guy. He had the right idea. Problem was he still wanted to think Islam was “just another religion.” (Ot at least to make the Muslims think that’s what he thought) His administration tried to find the cells within, but gave too much credence to CAIR, which we all know is a propaganda organization. For Bush to go after them would have been to diss the Saudis who own oil independence. Which means oil independence is the only way out.

It's the federal law! And if Slowbama doesn't know it we must tell him! Listen up, this is important. We must make Slobama and all his White House staff KEEP AND PROTECT ALL E-MAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES AND ANY AND ALL ELECTRONIC NOTES AND MESSAGES!

Thanks again, Bush. If you'd done right by the Republican brand, we wouldn't be facing at least four years of a Marxist for President.

But then, you've always had more respect for Democrats who hate your guts than for true Americans who want to secure our borders.

I hope you have a lousy retirement and rot away quicker than LBJ when you go back to your Texas ranch.

This is horrendous. Heck maybe you should call Cindy Shehan and buddy up with her. The way you are talking sounds as though you are cut from the same cloth.

Bush has made mistakes, some big ones. He has also kept us ALL safe from a terrorist attack since 9/11. You are whining now because some of his actions/decisions resulted in a big Democratic win? Your priorities are whacked.

We have life today as do our loved ones and we can live to fight in the next elections. Those people who lost their lives on 9/11 have none of that. How dare you treat President George Bush that way. He has more kindness on the tip of his little finger.

I blame Bush for a lot of this. He has been an extraordinarily weak President; at least for his second term. He has essentially been “Missing in Action” his entire second term and has allowed the liberals to completely set the tone of all political debates. There was no bully pulpit, no leadership, no focus, no direction.

I place quite a bit of blame on the GOP establishment. The GOP has been losing ground for 10 years, ever since Gingrich resigned. Their lack of aggressive leadership left a vacuum and the liberals have been on the march for years.

I think Bush did the right thing in the war against Islamic Terrorism with the invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq. He did the right thing with Roberts and Alito on the SCOTUS. Other than than he did just about everything else wrong. Yes I voted for him twice. What else could I do? His will be a legacy of failure on all other issues. Why the incredible spending programs? Why try to reach across the isle to the Scum of the Earth? Rip their throats outs. The financial mess is squarely the fault of the Democrats but most Americans are simply too stupid to establish cause and effect. They will reflexively vote against the party in power if their situation is bad even if their situation has nothing to do with the party in power. In short most Americans are really stupid. I hate to say it but its true.

Right. All of John’s “wise” politeness against the enemy of our democracy really got us far, didn’t it?

Awful! on spending, signed McPain-Feingold, bad on immigration.

Let Iraq become a cluster**** before the SURGE fixed it.

Appointed incompetent Treasury secretaries and other officials, gave up on fighting for some judges in the Senate.

Terrible party leader.

Not good at talking over the media and reaching the dumb voters and explaining his policies.

The Good

Tax Cuts (SUNSETED!)
Supreme Court
I’m still alive
TRIED to touch the Social Security Issue. Big points for that.

Grade: D+

Too Harsh? I’m a tough grader. What a wonderful opportunity his administration was, little good came.
