God bless you jan in Colorado. Your points are well taken.
Count me in. It was always more about the country than about the man, anyway.
Hope you can bring yourself to post “bring him to repentance on abortion and don’t let him completely despoil the country” prayers, mostly.
If I contribute prayers of my own in the comments, that’s the sort they’ll be.
Well, I guess this is not the opinion of the day, but I say if you can’t pray for the President of the United States, then I wonder if you might need to give another thought to what prayer is. If Blogger took on the project of praying for the President, and now faithfully continues that, then so be it.
I'll pray for the country but the best I can manage to pray for is Obama's repentance.
Come to think of it, that's not too shabby a thing to pray for anyway.
NO cheers, unfortunately.
Kyrie, Eleison
Believe me ExGeeEye, I will not hesitate.
Please add me to your list and accept my thanks.
Amen! God Bless us and our families! May God Bless America!
That works for me, grey_whiskers, and I think, more importantly, it is along the lines of what Scripture and the Lord meant.
I certainly will not pray for blessings on him as he does wrong. The first blessing I will pray on him is for a changed heart. That is the only hope of our nation surviving and only God can do it.
Bless you dear friend. You are added to the list.
It was my hope then that God would give us one more opportunity to return this country to Him. He has chosen not to do this.
Of course God will bestow blessings on individuals but I firmly believe that He has removed His hand from us today
This is not something He has done to us but something we have done to ourselves.
The United States of America has elected its king.
-----------------------
I see this country out at a cross roads: we will either elect a Marxist or not. If this country elects Barrack Obama the USA will no longer exist as we knew it. If we elect John McCain we may have another opportunity to return the US to its true glory.
I cry out to our God for mercy. I beseech Him to have mercy on us and allow us one more time to return the dedication of this great land. If You Lord choose to allow the US to leave our dedicated purpose I know by Your Grace that: No Matter Who Wins the Election I still believe: The Bible will still have all the answers. Prayer will still work. The Holy Spirit will still move. God will still inhabit the praises of His people. There will still be God-anointed preaching. There will still be singing of praise to God. God will still pour out blessings upon His people. There will still be room at the Cross. Jesus will still love you. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him. Prayer is the key to Heaven, but Faith unlocks the door.
I will pray that God changes him, changes his mind, opens it and changes him, and if that is not His will, to remove him.
Have mercy on us and our country! Deliver us from evil and evil doers. As King David cried out to you, so do I... you Almighty God are our refuge, our high tower, our rock. Lift the blinders from the eyes of the people of this nation. If this President elect is as scarey as he appears to be, help us! But for sure, deliver us from his pastor and the words of that kind of spiritual leadership.
Make clear, oh God, what President elect Obama means by the changing of his chant... change we can believe in, to we can change the world. Anyway God, protect us from dubious rulers with conniving agendas. Help us to be strong, wise, and ever mindful to your providential purpose for this country.
Am praying for God to help me forgive those I know who supported O because “they know now what they do”.....
By the time they know the truth, it will be too late.
But I know I MUST forgive others....even for this.
Heavenly Father—
My heart aches for my country at this moment. It aches that so many of Your righteous laws and commandments may be ignored and possibly outlawed in the future. It aches to see my husband sick with worry over the unknown future of our economy. It aches with worry that my country may no longer be a friend to Your beloved Israel. It aches with the realization that millions more unborn innocents are most likely to find violent ends in what should be the safest place on earth for them—their mother’s womb. :*(
I pray for this new President Obama. I especially pray that You, God, will remove the scales from Obama’s eyes and bring him to the knowledge that abortion is murder, and move his heart to end this abominable practice in America. I pray for our freedoms, and for our safety, and for our economic situations—the new President-elect claims he wants to reunite America in positive ways, please let that be so without conservative Americans having to give up their values and ethics and ideals and freedoms, especially the ones to worship You freely.
Protect our military at this precarious time of transition, for with Obama’s election, the enemies of freedom and right will be emboldened to move against him and us—please keep a hedge of protection around all of us, and protect us from other evils that Satan may now be emboldened to release upon America. Have mercy on us, and those who sin boldly against You, O God!!
I pray for President-elect Obama, that he will change his mind about amoral behavior in our society and not force that viewpoint upon all Americans. You, God, have the power to change evil to good as evidenced by Saul of Tarsus, who became one of the greatest leaders of Your people. There is hope for Obama, even though many of us do not have faith in that right at the moment. I pray for the safety of his family, because there are those who disagree with his policies who may react out of anger and hatred and violence. Keep this man and his family safe from harm.
In closing, I reiterate my prayer that President Obama comes to the realization that life begins at conception, and that he personally decides to end this holocaust of the innocents. Please let it be so! We must be the voice for those without voices. Let the violence against the most vulnerable of all humans be ended, I beg!
And finally, Heavenly Father, I beg of you to have mercy on our nation with this choice of leader—and open his heart and mind and soul to Your loving ways, and not to the ways of wicked people who would influence him.
In the name of the Holy Spirit and Your Most Wonderful Son Jesus Christ, Amen. And Amen.
Yes, svcw. I remember your prayer. I am afraid you are right in your full assessment about God’s hand. But if there is room for mercy, and time enough left on his clock for this world, we will still seek His face and pray for our nation and its leaders. Not prayers that they prosper, but prayers that they repent and turn to Him.
Obama is a socialist and was the spiritual pupil of a very sick and evil orator, Rev. Wright. Socialism takes the place of God in people's lives. If anything, we need to pray for protection from the work of our new President-elect. He's already manipulating people through his oratory, claiming that he will need eight years and he hasn't even had the job one day. This is the smooth-talk of the devil.
Maybe we need to arm ourselves in the word of the Lord. We're going to need all the protection we can get. Why pray for him? Prayers should be to protect us from him.
As must all of us who embrace Christ as Lord.
Nobody ever said it would be easy. God bless you, Freedom’sWorthIt.
We are supposed to pray for the unrighteous so that God can use them in the furtherance of HIS cause. But sometimes that seems more theoretical than real. Let the American people pray for their secular Messiah!
Amen, and thank you Blogger. I join you in prayer for for our nation, our troops, Israel and yes, Mr. Obama, apparently the president-elect as of current news reports, I am sad to read. A wise fellow believer encouraged me this morning (6:30 a.m. via phone) by reminding me of the last supper, when Christ knew what was before Him and prayed. And how, when He was crucified, it must have seemed to the disciples & others that all was lost, when in reality the ultimate battle was won, for all eternity! Even in this dark hour, we cannot lose sight of the hope we have. It’s an honor to join you in prayer.
