OK. You've gone out and voted, like a good citizen. Tell us about it.
How was turnout? Were there any problems at your polling place? Who do you think will win your local races?
FYI my wife and I were at the polls at 6:45 in Exeter, NH (Very liberal community) and it was aleady packed to the gills as throngs of people were already in line to vote. Massive voter turnout here in Southern, NH.
WHAT is WRONG today? Can the traffic be that high today???
I got to my north Metro Atlanta precint location at 6:25AM. I was about #250 in line, maybe more. Never before have I been more than about #15 or 20 in line.
If a lot of Georgia voters look like the voting demographic of the line I was in, McCain will be lucky to pull out Georgia. Very lucky indeed. Every other person, on average was either black or quite young. This is a very unusual look for the voters in my area.
If I can get FR to respond, I will look for better news from elsewhere.
“Turn out is very high here in central Indiana...”
What’s your take? Does high turnout favor the democrats or the republicans this time in the normally conservative areas?
For the record, I expect the turnout to shatter all past elections.
Well, if there is high voter turn out, McCain will carry Indiana.... disaster over catasterfy.
We use the nice, scantron ballots that are so easy to mark and insert into the machine that sucks them in. A great system; don't know why anyone would bother with touch-screen, computerized voting when the scantron-type systems leave a paper trail and work so well in every way.
I was so nervous last night that I didn't go to bed at all; it got later and later, and I just decided I would stay up and pray, and vote as soon as the polls opened so I wouldn't worry about it all day.
I have a STRONG sense that the people in line at my polling place feel this is a true crossroads for this country. I am certain that turnout will be HUGE today, everywhere.
At least we should get a really good idea of where this country stands. I hope and pray it stands behind honesty, decency, and McCain/Palin.
Please God, let it be so. Show us your mercy, and guide our voters to a positive outcome for our country.

Western Maryland RED(McCain) precinct.
I was in line before the polls opened at 7am. The line was HUGE. I voted at about 7:40am. Other old-timers in line said they had NEVER seen the line this long in the morning.
There were 2 measley Obama signs in the forest of McCain signs outside the polling place.
I voted in Greenbriar West at about 8:30 this morning. I didn’t have to wait long.
I see lots of lines on TV. It looks like they have it right, for once.
Got to the polls in beautiful Moore, OK about 7:10. Waited in line in the church gym 1 1/2 hours here in a pretty solid red state. Free coffee, lots of nice non-political chats with people once we woke up. A fun, excited group that all seemed proud of getting out and doing their civic duty.
SW OHio - rural - generally 70 - 30 mix in Republican favor. High turn out 2 hour wait at 7 a.m. Bumper stickers in lot show McCain favored by majority.
Just voted in Rehoboth, MA, a conservative community. Nothing out of sorts. Go McCain/Palin!
We live in 2-1 Republican Franklin County, PA. Wife and I got to our rural precinct at 7:40 AM and the parking lot was full and the line snaked around the inside of the fire company’s event hall and out the door. VERY heavy turnout...more than in ‘04 as far as I can tell. We drove by another polling place and same there. Could be very heavy GOP turnout.
Utah - heavily Red, but my precinct is purple.
I got to the polls at 6:45. I was 8th in line. Polls opened at 7:00, I was out of there by 7:10. There are no hotly contested races, voting was about as heavy as it always is. Not required to show I.D. nor fingerprint. I had to sign in.
McCain will win Utah, of that there is no doubt.
In the door and back out again in about 2.5 minutes. Signed my name, stepped into the booth, voted straight Republican (except for one Dem for town council, because he's a cop, generous supporter and big volunteer in our wrestling, football and lacrosse programs - I don't even know why he's a Dem.)
9:00 is easy street for getting in and getting out. Me, the house fraus and the oldies. Glad I got it done this morning - it'll be a crowded mess tonight.
So, are you in coal country?
I wonder how much people heard about Obama’s “bankrupting coal” comments. If the McCain people were better at oppo research, this would have been out there two weeks ago.

Just voted in Bedford, New Hampshire. This is a solid Republican town. Turnout was light-to-moderate, although my wife told me it was heavy earlier this morning. I would expect it to pick up later in the day as well.
I am already popping Rolaids, and it's only 10:15.
It's gonna be a looooooooong day! But I am hopeful. I thought today would be stress free, because I would have given up hope! I guess I am happy for the stress!
I have been thinking of West a lot- keeping him in my prayers. How does today look for him?
In my red county here in Central Florida there was a 15-20 minute wait at opening. A LOT of older (late 70’s early 80’s) people..wheelchair..walker. All I heard from them was that this election was too important to stay home for..
Many baby-boomers (my age!) folks- mixed races of all kinds.
The funniest/most ridiculous comment of the day- 3 young women wondering ...if they could just vote for president and leave the rest of the ballot blank. Eeeegads!!
