Cancer patients usually pass away from a planned terminal sedation.
This may be the first politically timed terminal sedation ever, though.
..I think they did that to King George V of England--in order to get the news into the evening papers in time...
You’re right. My mother passed away like that this past June. My prayers go out to the family.
So.....does Grandma’s vote count?
I don’t wish to seem cruel in any way...but I agree with you. My mom and also a dear friend went through this. Who WAS with her when she died??
People should be careful about the insensitive remarks they are making on this subject. As a member of the media, I can tell you that reporters at this moment are monitoring remarks here and there is a possibility that stories will crop up on the heartlessness of Freepers. This will generate more sympathy for Obama and I know you don’t want that.
I am just saying: Be very, very careful about what you say here. And remember, what you give out comes back to you.

first thought to cross my mind....
Absolutely NOT true. Of 10 people I know in the last 5 years or so that died of cancer, only 1 died in any planned sedated way. That was my mother in law last year. OTOH, I know 2 people that died in the last 5 that died of colon cancer, the most painful way of all to die. Neither one planned anything. One was my best friend, the other my ex-mother in law. Both were an inspiration of how not to be afraid of death.
I thought the same thing...my neighbor had emphysema, and at the "appointed time", his wife, at the direction of hospice started giving him morphine every fifteen minutes. He was begging her to stop, but she dutifully kept it up from 8:15pm to 11:15pm which was when he very shortly thereafter took his last breath.
