At this time of the year it's usually the leaves that fill the streets with color, this year campaign signs assist in that effort but just as the leaves disappear from the trees so are the campaign signs from the streets.
"Somebody came in a hurry and got all the signs, as many as they could," Lansing resident Bill Renfrew says.
And while keeping signs in your yard without them getting yanked is a problem every election season, the folks who run the Ingham County Republican office say this year is in no way typical.
"Some people have been in here three or four times replacing their yard signs," Jan Criss of the Ingham County Republicans says.
The biggest issue with stolen signs seems to be happening on the Republican side, they say over the course of the past few months a third of their signs have disappeared into thin air.
"You can go into neighborhoods now and every McCain sign in the neighborhood will be taken," Criss says.
But what about the local Democrats, are they seeing the same kind of problem?
"We haven't seen as much of that. It may happens to one in every 500 signs," Sarah McClure, an Obama volunteer, says.

Obama thugs spray painted every McCain (billboard), about 20, sign for 10 miles along Rte 125 in NH last night.
They sprayed SUCKS over Palin so it read: McCain Sucks.
It will backfire. Lots of average apolitical folks just driving to church and out for the day.

I imagine they’ll be stealing our American flags after November 4th. It’s the “new direction” Orwellian America.
A friend of mine had her McCain signs removed and an Obama sign hot glued to her fence. Glue was still wet when she arrived home so she took it down and put up a few more McCain signs. It’s getting uglier out there.

We drove past a house today that had a sign which said “This is where my McCain/Palin sign used to be”. The Obamagoblins are busy at work here in SE PA.
All the McCain signs on my road in Dutchess County, NY were stolen last night. A number of houses had put them out front recently. Our sign is the only one left, because ours is closer to the house and not right on the side of the road.
I understand that the union guys are doing a lot of this stuff. Obama*s a total sell out to the unions. He*s made some big promises to the unions, and they*re going to cost the taxpayers a bundle.
Slathering your sign with a mixture of poison ivy juice and cayene or jalapeno juice has a way of cutting down on recidivism.
Wouldn’t you love for this to happen in Texas and you catch him. Might be your last chance before the law is changed.
I’m wondering when O and Biden will denounce this type of campaigning...stealing signs...that’s just not right.
They must be worried or they wouldn’t be stealing the signs. Wonder where they put them. I have a suggestion.
Lots of people out on corners here waving Mc Cain Palin signs in the last week. I haven't seen a single O/B in the last week.
I live here in Lansing where this report was done and there are a lot of McCain signs missing.
I know one stretch of road I drive down everyday that have at least 20 missing.

I live in the Thumb area of Michigan. We’ve been experiencing the same theft of McCain signs. But in one of yesterdays local papers, the Dem County Chair insisted that their signs are being ripped off as well. Not True. But of course the paper prints it anyway. Also, I would like to take the opportunity to register my disgust with the Huron County Tribune (a Hearst rag) that came out in support of Obama. Huron County has always leaned Republican. I hope they loose readership over this endorsement.
