Obama's Kenyan sister stranded in U.S.

Violent political unrest in Kenya has prevented the half-sister of Sen. Barack Obama from returning to her native African homeland after visiting the United States during the Iowa caucus campaign, WND has learned. Auma Obama is now stranded in New Hampshire and indefinitely in the U.S., according to U.S. security officials involved with the presidential campaign.

Barack Obama's protective detail recently was boosted to deal with overflow crowds the new Democratic frontrunner is attracting.

The State Department still views the situation in Kenya as too dangerous for Americans, as well as his sister, to return.

Maybe we can search the campaign contribution records as it seems even those Obama's w/o money seem to have enough to funnel some to Obama's campaign. Has anyone conducted an individual search here http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/norindsea.shtml I am not able to work with this effectively.

Auma Obama was born in Kenya to Barack Obama Sr. and his first wife. She studied in Germany and now lives in Great Britain, where she works as a social worker running a children's' trust.

To Auma Obama, who works in children’s services for a council near Reading, he is simply her brother. “I’m proud of him and I want him to do what he wants to do, but it’s scary. Being in the spotlight is not necessarily a good thing,” she said.

Auma married a British man just over 10 years ago. They are now divorced but they have a nine-year-old daughter.

Auma was born to Obama Sr’s first wife in Kenya, before he left Africa for Hawaii on an overseas scholarship.

Auma eventually met Obama in Chicago, where he was a community activist.

From 1980 until very recently Auma spent most of her time in Germany. From 1980 to 1987 she studied German at the University of Heidelberg. She then was accepted into a graduate program at the University of Bayreuth where she studied the relatively new field “interkulturelle Germanistik”. According to Spiegel she wrote her dissertation on “die Arbeitsauffassung in Deutschland und literarische Reflektionen darüber” (the concept of labor in Germany and its reflection in literature).

And Auma didn’t spend all her time in Germany studying in the library. In the mid-1990s she was invited by German television to speak about the some of the vicious attacks on foreigners that were taking place in the country at that time. She worked for the local newspaper in Bayreuth and organized seminars for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. She found part-time work as an interpreter at trade fairs, and was chosen among thousands of applicants for admittance into the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. In the capital city she lived in the multi-cultural neighborhood of Kreuzberg and, according to Stern, joined a “glamorous clique” of successful black women from the arts and business.

After a stint in London, an unsuccessful marriage, and the birth of daughter, Auma returned to Kenya, where she is now a field director of the UN program CARE. Undoubtedly she will play a role in the Obama administration with respect to US-Africa relations.

Thank you. I was waiting for someone to mention the communist thug Odinga, and his alliance with islamists, and his vow to implement Shari'ah Law, and his sanctioning of genocidal attacks on Christians and others, which included church-burnings and machete assaults. And his enthusiastic supporter and alleged cousin, Obama, who campaigned for him as a U.S. Senator at taxpayer expense.

There has been sporadic coverage of this in the press, and there are several chilling videos on YouTube. But this is not as big a deal as it should be. It is bone-chilling on many levels. Did any U.S. Senators campaign before cheering crowds for Mussolini, Pol Pot or Hitler? How about Saddam, Mugabe or Mao? Same thing: communist murderous totalitarian thug. And Obama was right there on stage, embracing Odinga at your expense.

“Barack has been concerned about us, he’s been interested in our lives, he’s allowed us our space in our lives, and we’ve allowed him his space in his life,” said Auma Obama, who runs a youth sports program in Nairobi for the Atlanta-based nongovernmental organization CARE. “We are a very normal family from having not met each other. Everybody lives their own lives, everybody is responsible for their own life and what they make of it.”
