Father, God, We come to You today in acknowledgement that this battle truly is Yours. The odds against us seem insurmountable. All of Hell is unleashed on this election to allow a pro-baby murdering, pro-homosexual agenda, anti-Israel, Marxist into the White House. Normally, I don't use those terms in the prayer thread, but that is exactly what we are faced with. We aren't faced with a mere drain on our pocket books (though that is a reality). The love of money be damned. We are faced with the survival or death of one nation founded for Your glory and for the exaltation of Your holy name. It angers many of us that we are even in this battle. People SHOULD see, but they don't. And so, we come to You. Opener of blind eyes and deaf ears, we pray that You will move on our behalf. Triumph over evil in this land. Triumph over evil on our TVs. Triumph over evil in our homes and hearts. And, Lord, let this election be one that glorifies You. Lord, I realize even as I type this that this could mean glory through Your showing us mercy or through giving us judgment. We deserve the latter. But there are those in this nation who still long to see You first in our land. Revive us. Heal our land Lord. We confess our sins before You. Our murders. Our adulteries. Our greed. Our shameless disregard for Your ways. Heal us. Forgive us. Turn our hearts towards You, and bless us not with wealth or riches but with Your presence and peace.
Lord, I pray for President Bush. In so many ways the attacks on him have been unfair and relentless. Yet, he is a very imperfect man. Help him, Lord. Help him to do right. Help him to have the courage to stand for good and the wisdom to know what that is.
I pray for Sarah Palin and John McCain. Each of them is under attack in their own ways. May John McCain's focus at this time be upon You and Your power to save. May he have peace in his heart and determination in his spirit to lean on You and to trust You. I know he has had to do so before. Remind him, Lord, that You are the source of his strength. And, for Governor Palin, dear Lord, they hate her. They hate her because she loves You. Just rain down blessings upon her life. Protect her and all of the candidates, and let the truth out before it is too late. Don't let them destroy her, Lord. But, may she rise to the heights You have for her, and may she always keep her focus on You.
Go with us the rest of this day, we pray. Be with us this election week. And, may we get more than enough people praying for good to prevail in this nation - and may they truly mean it in their hearts.
For it is in the blessed name of Jesus my Lord that I pray these things, Amen.

Class Participation
The entrance of Your words gives light. Psalm 119:130
As a high school teacher and college professor, I have observed that learning is a cooperative effort between the student and the instructor. Thats why educators try to get the student involved in class participation. The teacher does some work; the student does some work. Together progress is made. Education happens.
In Psalm 119, the writer suggests a similar pattern in verses 129-136. God is the teacher; we are the students.
Lets look at Gods role in our education. He shows us mercy (v.132). He guides our steps (v.133). And He redeems us from outside trouble (v.134).
But first we must be eager students, ready to accept Gods teaching, guidance, and help. We should enter His classroom with anticipation: The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. . . . I longed for Your commandments (vv.130-131). In our role as students of Gods Word, we should fulfill three requirements: (1) examine Gods words for what they are teaching, (2) gain understanding from those words, and (3) obey His statutes.
Its time to enter Gods classroom and listen and learn from Him. When we do, well look at God with renewed love and at the world with renewed concern (v.136).
Thy Word is like a deep, deep mine,
And jewels rich and rare
Are hidden in its mighty depths
For every searcher there. Hodder
Careful meditation on the Scriptures makes for a closer walk with the Savior.

That was a wonderful prayer— spot on. I am silently repeating it as part of my own prayer right now. Thank you. If it’s in God’s will, we may see a great miracle in 2 days.
