Lord, I pray for President Bush. In so many ways the attacks on him have been unfair and relentless. Yet, he is a very imperfect man. Help him, Lord. Help him to do right. Help him to have the courage to stand for good and the wisdom to know what that is.
I pray for Sarah Palin and John McCain. Each of them is under attack in their own ways. May John McCain's focus at this time be upon You and Your power to save. May he have peace in his heart and determination in his spirit to lean on You and to trust You. I know he has had to do so before. Remind him, Lord, that You are the source of his strength. And, for Governor Palin, dear Lord, they hate her. They hate her because she loves You. Just rain down blessings upon her life. Protect her and all of the candidates, and let the truth out before it is too late. Don't let them destroy her, Lord. But, may she rise to the heights You have for her, and may she always keep her focus on You.
Go with us the rest of this day, we pray. Be with us this election week. And, may we get more than enough people praying for good to prevail in this nation - and may they truly mean it in their hearts.
For it is in the blessed name of Jesus my Lord that I pray these things, Amen.
call to daily prayer
As a high school teacher and college professor, I have observed that learning is a cooperative effort between the student and the instructor. Thats why educators try to get the student involved in class participation. The teacher does some work; the student does some work. Together progress is made. Education happens.
In Psalm 119, the writer suggests a similar pattern in verses 129-136. God is the teacher; we are the students.
Lets look at Gods role in our education. He shows us mercy (v.132). He guides our steps (v.133). And He redeems us from outside trouble (v.134).
But first we must be eager students, ready to accept Gods teaching, guidance, and help. We should enter His classroom with anticipation: The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. . . . I longed for Your commandments (vv.130-131). In our role as students of Gods Word, we should fulfill three requirements: (1) examine Gods words for what they are teaching, (2) gain understanding from those words, and (3) obey His statutes.
Its time to enter Gods classroom and listen and learn from Him. When we do, well look at God with renewed love and at the world with renewed concern (v.136).
Deliver us from evil and save our country on Tuesday, Lord. Prayers for our troops overseas, too. Amen.
That was a wonderful prayer— spot on. I am silently repeating it as part of my own prayer right now. Thank you. If it’s in God’s will, we may see a great miracle in 2 days.
Amen, Blogger. I’m grateful to be able to join with you, and everyone else, in prayer.
Amen.
Amen, blogger, for all you have done this day, and to each that enter here.
Lord, Father, we beseech you to give each of us the will of iron contained in our current President, George W. Bush. Through each trial, through all of the lies and distortions heaped upon him, he has been steadfast. Most would have been crushed by the onslaught. He, through You, withstood.
Bless him, for his service. Let him be honored for all he has done. Especially, since he has accomplished all under this deep burden of war. A war he did not ask for, but one that was necessary to stop the attacks within Your “one nation under God”.
We have not seen further attacks during his term, but he gets no respect. The evil in this country belittles each accomplishment. And he has accomplished much, quietly, in Your name.
Help us, Lord, to further his task, to keep this country safe, to keep it free, and to honor You till our last breath.
We live to serve You, Father, without fear, without trepidation, for we know that, through You, we each can accomplish wonderful things. And through You, we each will see a better tomorrow.
Bless all of Your servants, Lord. Meld our hearts together, forever.
In Your heavenly name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
Father, I know we as Your people do not DESERVE Your intervention in our election to save us from a bad fate, but as Your child I appeal to You my Father to have mercy. Nevertheless we want Your will done on earth as it is in heaven in Jesus Name.
It breaks my heart to agree with this part of your powerful prayer, but I do and with all the prayers prayed here this Sabbath. In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ Amen.
I join in prayer for President Bush, the Administration, McCain, Palin and our heroes standing in harm’s way!
