ISLAMABAD (AFP) An Egyptian Al-Qaeda operative described by the United States as the terror network's propaganda chief was killed in a missile strike in Pakistan, security officials said Saturday. Abu Jihad al-Masri was among several rebels killed when two missiles fired by a suspected US spy drone hit a truck in the North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Friday night, they said. The United States has offered a one-million-dollar bounty for the death or capture of al-Masri, who has appeared in an anti-Western video introduced by Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's number two. "The strike was aimed at a vehicle carrying Abu Jihad and two others. The target was successfully hit and all three people were killed," a senior Pakistani security official told AFP on condition of anonymity. His death came in one of two separate missile attacks in Pakistan's troubled tribal belt on Friday, the latest in a series of 18 strikes in the past three months that have raised tensions between Washington and Islamabad.

Prayers to the Obamas for the loss of their Uncle Abu.
Abu Jihad al-Masri
Guess Abu won’t have the guts to propagandize again;)
What a way to start Kwaanza!
Some days you get the bear and ... oh never mind :)
"There was no immediate confirmation from the Pakistani military or from US forces deployed in Afghanistan about al-Masri's death."
Do the Dems plan a Big Wellstone Memorial service for him?

Abu Jihad al-Masri operates out of Iran and is in charge of al-Qa’ida media and propaganda. He may also be the Chief of External Operations for al-Qa’ida.
Clearly a mistake. I've been assured by the mainstream media that "Jihad" simply means "struggle" in the same sense that Christians struggle to follow God's word and the example of Jesus. How could a man with such a peaceful naem be linked to evil?
“big if we got him.”
Sure is.
But if we did, it will be mentioned once and swept under the rug by the msm - after all, we need to concentrate on whether Joe the plumber paid his taxes.
I do hope we got him.
Would be really good news.
More good news in the war on al Qaeda mass murderers ping.
The US Military, usually with Unmanned Ariel Drones, have attacked inside Pakistan several dozen times the past four or five years.
Which puts the lie to these teeth-gnashing Bush-bashers who claim America is doing nothing to fight “real terrorism.”
Attacking Pakistan, or cutting off aid and/or funding, would cause enormous turmoil and instability in that region.
An invasion of Pakistan would not guarantee Osama bin Ladin’s capture, nor would it even prove whether he is actually there.
whatever happened to Mushariff??????
So much for Obama's pick for potential press secretary.
Was colonel red moustache with him?
He was probably on the way to the post office get his absentee ballot in the mail. Three less votes for Obama!
I applaud the patience of the people who track down and kill these animals. It must be a very frustrating job with a lot of nights spent thinking, “Close, so close...”
It's frustrating as hell to me to have the President so close-mouthed on the accomplishments of the WOT, but I know that's a large part of the success they've enjoyed to date. I don't know if it's his nature to let his actions speak for him, but I do know if it were me I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut!
He became the top story.
