EDITORIAL: What if Democrats win it all?
The Washington Times ^ | 10/31/2008 | Washington Times Staff

Posted on 10/31/2008 3:24:35 PM PDT by DoughtyOne

If Barack Obama is elected into office as the 44th president of the United States on Nov. 4 and voters, in tandem, give the Democrats 60 seats in the Senate and give them a solid majority in the House. What happens after Inauguration Day?

Single-party rule is inherently totalitarian whether the people consent to it or not. In most cases, one-party states rise out of authoritarian regimes, including former monarchies, or socialist revolutions. There are currently seven - China, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, Vietnam, Syria, Korea. The United States would become the eighth.

Single-party rule is something to fear in and of itself - particularly from a spending standpoint, regardless of which party has absolute power. From 2003 to 2005, George W. Bush and the Republican Congress created the largest expansion of Medicare in history the prescription-drug bill and started two wars. They also succeeded in creating the largest tax cut in history.

Well, that will not happen again. First thing the congress and Obama will do is insure there will be no electoral college, insure that talk radio is done away with, insure liberal supreme court judges are installed. This will mean liberalism for 30 years from our courts.

Pretty stupid for any to play around with not voting, or thinking that the other side will make mistakes and allow a return to power.

We have to work for the power and we have to keep the power. The democrat party cannot be trusted with this country.

And, if any “conservatives” are willing to give away an election - they are not and never have been a conservative.

A conservative would have the sense to never trust your government in the hands of radicals - even stupid radicals.

Yes, but then that begs the question what our guy would do too.

I’ll give that a pass until a later date.

Do liberals have more control or less control of the media now than they did in 1994?

Amen brother! why do some of you think we can reverse what is about to happen?

We have never in our lifetimes encountered this kind of media control, the Clintoon years were not like this

Dr. Savage has been talking & hammering this a good part of today & yesterday, the public is & has allready been brainwashed into no return.

We are seeing the rise and first chance at power of the black power segment of society.

The black power segment plus the ultra radicals that hate America.

You do not fool around with those people. Do you really think they believe in America? Do they believe in our values? No - not if they are the sort that gather to discuss bombing of U.S. sites.

Well, we won’t have the choice. We will have to stop spending. If they are going to dip into the 401K’s spending will absolutely stop.

Why would I work my entire life saving when others bought, staying home when others took wonderful trips if I intended the government to give it to them because they had nothing?

They had nothing because they thought nothing about insurance, saving, planning for rainy days - they did exactly what they wanted when they wanted it. And I am supposed to come in and give my life savings to them to spread the wealth around?

No way.

If it comes to the government getting my 401K - I will spend it myself first. That will not happen. And, I am sure there are many others that will not stand for that.

That money will be gone and I, too, will have to depend on the government to pay for my care in a nursing home, to pay for my meds, everything. I am no longer working and saving.

If I have to pay for everyone - I will be one of everyone and I will no longer give donations to any. Let the government do all of the benevolence.

I happen to agree with your take. In fact I agree with it so much that I think even the left will be shocked at what this guy wants to do, when it is all revealed.

Even Biden, being a vegetable, will be shocked.

I know we think his supporters don’t have a brain, but it’s my premise most of them just don’t use the one they were issued.

You just wait. Some of them will be the first ones to suffer from his actions. And when that takes place, those folks are going to turn on him with an anger that rages white hot.

We’ll see. I think Obambi will overplay his hand.

Gasoline was $2.09 in the Twin Cities today.

The MSM can relentlessly spam the “worst economy since the Depression” propaganda, but most folks pay their mortgages, have jobs and can’t internalize macroeconomic stuff like the Fannie Mae meltdown or a 3/10 of one percent decline in the quarterly GNP.

The do know that they are saving $50 a week on gas compared to July. Banks still have money and neighbors are not being perp walked out of their homes by evicting Sheriffs. The Home Depot and Target parking lots are still full.

That hits home. At some point, Joe Citizen is going to enter the privacy of their polling place and concluding ... “we’re not in crisis mode necessitating a rash change”. I think that will benefit McCain.

I really think the gas prices will win the day.

Take away the “Economy in Crisis” panic and Hussein Obama has no emotional hook to reel in suburbanites.

What makes you think 2010 would do anything? Don’t you think Obama et al will prevent that very event? All he would have to do is instill better corruption in the voting process.

What about marshall law? Within two years, I am sure there will be an attack and, of course, Obama will not fight, so there will be a need to control the population.

If it is time for America to wake up - it is time right now.

We don’t need a Hitler scenario.

Remember, the Jews never saw coming what Hitler was planning. They could not believe that anyone would do what he did.

We should never make that mistake again.

I think there is a reasonable chance the market may roar on Monday. If the Dow is close to 10,000 on Monday evening, Obambi will be the dark stuff between the elephant’s toes by Wednesday morning.

I agree with your comments. That gas price is startling isn’t it. Wow...

As you state, the personal pain is nowhere to be seen. So much for the Great Depression II.

I don’t think we’re out of the woods yet, but this just doesn’t look like a dark hold abyss to the public at this point, at least IMO.

I think you’re on to something there.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating. I’m merely explaining possibilities other than the full meltdown some of you see taking place.

I agree that the time to think is now, but I can’t force the left to use their brain cells.

We have to win in 2008.

There will be TWO things to do after we win.

Election Reform.

Getting rid of the RINO traitors in the infrastructure of the party and voting for conservatives in primary elections.

Conservatives in the party need to have some internal mechanism or vote to see that we don’t have 4 conservatives running against a RINO in the primaries.

I hate to tell you - but, we have lost the conservative movement. If we cannot win against a radical socialist who will not defend the country, we will never have a chance of convincing the population to work for a living and determine their own future.

Democracies survive until the population learns they can vote themselves funds from the treasury. When that happens, there is no desire for democracy but for freedom from daily worries of earning a living.

What is actually happening is that the population wants a plantation owner and they want to be the mindless slaves. No worries of independence, someone to feed and clothe them. Well, they will get what they seek.

Obama will lead to a dictatorship. It will then mean our America is lost.

Look at the hold the media had on this election. It will be worse. We will see more and more restrictions on conservative views, more and more attacks on us.

If we do not fight now - we have given up the right to have an America.

I agree on all counts. Those last two thoughts remind me of some comments of mine from earlier tonight.

I wish I could believe that but I can’t.

Look at the PC control over speech. That is one of the first steps. We are all scared to say certain words. We just gave away that right without even one shot being fired.

Also, do you ever see a democrat go against other party members or the party? No. The reason they win is because they do not destroy their own. They are a team with one goal and talking points.

So, they will not have the ability to speak out. And there is no alternative for them. Without the party they have nothing. So they will stay.

Same as the Hitlerites refused to see what the truth was because they would then have to face the truth.

The only way I can see out of this is if God helps us open the eyes of the people to the fact they are selling their country and their democracy for a piddly check from the government.

I pray that we will again have an angel in the whirlwind to guide this great country. (George Bush mentioned this in his inaugration prayer or address and I thought it showed the true worth of the man we had elected).

But, we need to learn that if we do get another chance, we need to support our elected ones - instead of destroying them. We need to fight as a team instead of criticizing every move as it does not meet our personal wish list.

And, we need to learn to be strong, clean up the government and get down to the business of serving the people. We will have to destroy the Washington bunker players.

You know - this reminded me of my history teacher. He would vote for the other party if one had been in power more than 2 terms. Felt it kept the power even.

Of course, today, it is too dangerous to give the other party a chance to socialize the country.

If I am right or I am wrong, we’re still going to have to face this together. I understand where you are coming from.

You take care.

>>Some of them will be the first ones to suffer from his actions.<<

“Privacy advocates” thought that Clinton/Gore would protect their rights better than Bush senior, and they were wrong. Clinton/Gore was determined to stop anyone outside the NSA from using strong encryption, even when the know-how was already all over the world.

If Obama is elected, he and the Dems will probably prevent most domestic oil exploration and drilling, even though the people are for more domestic oil production. When gas prices go up again, there will be public pressure to explore and drill again.

However, if amnesty passes, there is no way to recover from the damage.

My great concern about an Obama win is that the extensive and discreet global network of collaborative shared intelligence resources the Bush Administration has built and nurtured - which has largely negated any ability for terrorists to direct their violence and oppression anywhere but against other Muslims - will immediately dissolve. Nobody in their right mind will trust this rampaging Obama crew to honor promises that their anti-jihadist efforts would be vigorously protected from media exposure and domestic political retribution.

No political or intelligence executives in Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Pakistan, China, Germany, Indonesia etc. is going to trust Barack Obama to protect their domestic political interests and standing.

Democrats have always been about disasterous international betrayals to satisfy craven domestic political advantages.

I share your frustration with Republicans who seem to have surrendered to the culture of glutenous “If I don’t get a slab for my district it’s just going somewhere else” earmark pork.

But, in reality, if you don’t have Republicans like Collins/Snowe/Specter/Pataki/Arnold/Sununnu in those states you don’t get a more conservative Pubbie - you get a more liberal Democrat.

It’s just the way it is. Specter will win in PA until he drops and Rick Santorum gets 86’d. You couldn’t run Tom Coburn in Maine.

So, I’m a bit resigned to a Party that needs members who are palatable to the populace in Maine, Minnesota and Oregon but remain exponentially preferable to the liberal Democrat who would hold the office in their absence. You have to cobble together a majority coalition somehow.
