For Incomes Below $100,000, a Better Tax Break in Obama’s Plan
New York Times ^ | October 30, 2008 | Steven Greenhouse

Posted on 10/31/2008 11:14:26 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Mr. McCain has been sounding the traditional Republican tax-cutting theme, trying to convince voters that Mr. Obama, the Democratic nominee, wants to increase taxes and spread the wealth like a socialist.

Helped by the emergence of Joe the Plumber and using Mr. Obama’s own words, Mr. McCain has insisted that Mr. Obama’s tax policies would hurt small businesses and upwardly mobile individuals, while providing welfare for low-income Americans.

Mr. Obama has been fighting those accusations in stump speeches and commercials, in recent days asking members of his audience to raise their hands if they made less than $250,000 a year. Fewer than 3 percent of households make more than $250,000.

Obama the "unifier" is playing class warfare with stunts like "raise your hand if you earn more than $250K". If he wins, his tax scheme will not pay for all his spending programs, so in the next election, if not sooner, the $250K envy threshold will become $150K or less.

If government becomes primariliy a means of stealing from one group of people to give to another group, it will have no more moral legitimacy than the mafia, and I think "tax evasion" will be weighed by many people purely in terms of the benefits vs. the cost of getting caught.

Great news regarding Obama the unifier.

Come November 4th I'm pulling the lever for Obama.

(Then watch him dance and swing.)

The companies that produce everything that they buy will have to raise prices to compensate for their higher taxes. The base cost of everything goes up. Their money is still being taken in the form of taxes. This can be explained to an elementary school kid with very little difficulty but dems don’t seem to get it.

His proposal for fixing the Social Security shortfall will land on those making just over $102K hard!

you think the NYSlimes is trying to soften the blow if hussien gets elected and immediately raises taxes on families making $100K or more???

first we were told it would only effect families making $250K or more...then it was down to $200K or more....brainless joe biden talked about $150K or more last week and now one of hussien’s 529 groups, the NYSlimes has brought it down to $100K....

My wife and I were considering the ramifications of the tax increases that would be in effect were the ‘1’ to gain office. The cold reality is this: we would be better off to be divorced. She earns enough to gain from the ‘1’s tax plan and I would be able to reduce my net income by paying child support and deducting that amount from my taxes, thus making me better under the ‘1’s plan.

Married, we would be worse off with our combined incomes.

The idea of punishing working, married couples under the ‘1’s plan is truly frightening and a sad commentary on the state of affairs in These United States.

Obama is a liar. ANYTHING he says, with the exception of wanting to tax America into socialism for his own empowerment and that of a socialist government, is not credible. The fools and dupes, that continue to guzzle the liberal kool-aid, believe ANYTHING this liar lies about. Anything. His policies will fail, as socialism always does, because they cannot pay for themselves and REAL AMERICANS will not tolerate a pinko socialist in the White House regardless of his clout in the Congress and the Three Stooges, Nancy, Harry and Curly Joe.....

Perhaps, as an honest, and ambitious man, I don’t want money stolen from “the rich?” I want them to keep their money and me to keep mine...

Is he or is he not in favor of extending the Bush tax cuts? If not everyone, ESPECIALLY the middle class will have huge increased tax bills.

I really wanted to comment on the article on the web site but could not do so. I could swear that yesterday on FR, I saw a thread from the same source the Slimes used showing a different result that what they printed (I would not be surprised they altered the results).

My wife and I have been thinking about purchasing a small resort which would have income which would be greatly affected by 0bami’s tax plans - to the negative on our behalf. Even though this venture would create new jobs, in the end we would pay higher taxes which would make the venture near to being unprofitable - unless the seller of the resort were to reduce his price. The seller is not willing to do this, even in times of a declining market (his mistake because he will sit on his property for a long time).

End result of all this, we probably will not purchase the resort.

Someone needs to get this to Rush and Sean.

Now the NY Slimes, the official spokesho for 0, has people making below $100,000 not having to worry about taxes.

The reality will be some where over 25k if 0 wins.

Nothing like an arbitrary moving target....the income just keeps slipping lower. Perhaps the man behind the curtain (0bami) is realizing his tax plan won’t work and has to keep lowering the income levels to fund his redistribution.

It all begs the question, because Obama will not give a real tax break to anybody. The author is a maroon.

Promises promises - he broke his campaign ad spending promise, so all these subsequent promise ads were made possible by a lie.

So sorry - no sale.
