10-31) 10:03 PDT OAKLAND -- BART closed its Richmond. Fruitvale and Coliseum stations this morning after numerous youths heading to a protest in San Francisco against federal immigration policies jumped fare gates, authorities said.
About 100 fare-evaders were reported at the Fruitvale station in Oakland about 9:45 a.m., Johnson said. The station was closed a short time later. There was no immediate information on whether a bus bridge would be set up there.
The protesters were heading to a noontime rally on Sansome Street in San Francisco opposing the policies and enforcement actions taken by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. BART officials were girding for the possibility of more fare evaders at other stations

Glad I don’t rely on BART.
This stuff writes its own jokes!!!!
Just some youths “spreading the wealth”.....move along. Nothing to see here.
Did the train take them to the protest?
Instead of protests maybe they should be going to SCHOOL!
With an Obama presidency, this will be an everyday type occurance...the moonbats will be emboldened....
I live near Coliseum station and am not surprised. Taking BART costs about $4 each way from Oakland to SF.
The larger point is that we have foreign nationals protesting OUR policies in OUR nation. Our police, immmigration officials and polticians REFUSE to enforce the law.
At what point do people take our nation back, Pelosi isn’t about to deport anyone, they mean votes for her criminal enterprise.
That's only about 15 minutes worth at many of Atlanta's MARTA stations.
St.Louis won’t even bother with them if the perps are under 16 17 years old.
Ugh. BART sucks.
I live near the Lake Merritt, City Center, and 19th stations.
Lake Merritt isn’t too bad, but it does have problem with scum hanging around. Also, old Chinese guys playing boardgames (chess or go, I assume).
It’s also near Laney College, so you’ve got those twerps to deal with sometimes.
I try my best to avoid City Center and 19th. Let’s just leave it at that. :)
If I don't pay the ticket, I get a judgment against me.
With a judgment, the city can put a lien on my property, including interest and penalties, and compel me to pay.
If I continue to refuse, a warrant can be issued against me for my arrest, because the city has my real name and real address from the initial arrest.
If I continue to refuse to pay, if I ever sell my property, the city will exercise their lien, and get their money, plus court costs, expenses, penalties and interest. If I ever again run afoul of the law, they will exercise the warrant, and hold me until somebody comes to pay the bill.
All of these things will happen to me, Joe Citizen, if I beat a fare. So it makes sense for me to pay the $4.35 to ride the train, and I pay it.
None of these things will happen to an illegal alien who beats a fare.
The police will not have his real name and address, because he is carrying fraudulent documents in the first place, so the ticket will be written to an alias.
Even if somehow the ticket is written to him, he need not pay, because there is no way to compel him to pay. There is no property in his name, nothing to put a lien on, no name and address to swear out a warrant. If he is ever picked up again, it will be with a new name and new papers, so it will never come back to him.
So nothing will happen to the illegal alien if he gets caught beating a fare, so it does not make sense for him to pay it. So he jumps the turnstile and goes about his business.
That is why illegal immigration is corrosive to society. It creates a lawful class and a lawless class. It creates a market for labor and a black market for labor. It means there are a lot of people who do not share the basic assumptions that hold a society together.

In so many ways an illegal alien is above the law. Right now the supreme court is going to decide if an alien using someone elses identity should be charged with identity theft....IF???
Why should anybody be surprised...these people jumped gates to get into this country, the BART fare gate is nothing to them.
Nice euphemism for "Mexican national illegal alien juvenile delinquents".
In looking for a job, I have stumbled on many job offerings for “activists”. These so far have been 100% liberal agenda type of groups. I don’t know if these people were paid or not. If these activists are getting paid, why can’t they fork out the 4 bucks like the rest of us?
Its just plain stealing.
