Face Off: Should The U.S. Attack Iran Before January 20?
IranPressNews ^ | October 28, 2008 | by Daniel Halper

If Senator Barack Obama is successful in his presidential election bid, which seems more likely each day passing, it will be left to President George W. Bush to ensure that Iran remains without nuclear weapons for the foreseeable future. Time will be the biggest constraint - since the president will be out of power about two and a half months after the election - so options are limited.

A targeted military strike on Iran's nuclear development installations appears to be the only tangible solution remaining. Methods of determent are not working; sanctions have been weak and ineffective. U.S. rhetoric and condemnation have been met with scorn by Ahmadinejad. And Senator Obama, at best, promises more of the same. His promise, however, to sit down with leaders of Iran almost guarantees that the best scenario - i.e., that the Iranians will be pressured into changing their behavior in order to obtain increased economic and diplomatic stature - is unachievable.

I would love to see it start, but unless we go in with ZERO rules of engagement and fight it as conquerors, it wil be useless.

My wife’s parents live in Detroit, I actually suggested that they come down and stay with us out here in the country for a few days.

Pretty magnanimous of me considering the bad blood we have had over the years...

Iran will certainly get their nuclear bomb if Obama is elected.

That’s the payback for all of the Mid-East donations that he’s receieved.

The day after the election, if Ocommie wins, Bush should go on the air and say: “I am not risking one American life on a conflict that I flat out know the next President will not pursue or complete. Hear me now: If there is an atomic weapon or biological plague loosed on American soil in the next four years, it is now the Democrats job and responsibility to seek to prevent it. You want to be Europe’s president, pal? Go ahead and see where kind words get you when dealing with animals.”

Heard verbally (no link) that two recent earthquakes in Iran were actually underground nuke tests. No idea if there is anything to that.

Wait a second... I thought the US already had attacked Iran back in 2006, when the “White House / Pentagon has a secret plan” stories first emerged...

G’night all, I really mean it this time.

It would be more effective and less problematical to deprive them of oil revenues by jumping on the declining price of oil and making sure it goes down further and stays down. If done right the regime in Tehran will have to take some desperate measures that will play into our hands.

“That’s “martial” law.”

Which is a lot like marital law.

“A targeted military strike on Iran’s nuclear development installations appears to be the only tangible solution remaining” to ... the credit crisis? ... Madonna’s marital problems? ... or legalizing prostitution in San Francisco? Choose the correct answer and win a free laptop computer or four days in sunny Orlando.
