McCain attacks Obama on oil firms

Republican US presidential hopeful John McCain has accused rival Barack Obama of offering oil companies tax breaks, at a rally in Defiance, Ohio.

The attack came as oil company Exxon Mobil reported record profits, and new figures showed US GDP shrinking.

At his Ohio campaign event, Mr McCain criticised Mr Obama for voting in favour of a 2005 energy bill, which contained tax breaks for oil companies.

"Senator Obama voted for billions in corporate giveaways to the oil companies," he said.

"I voted against it."

McCain shut TFU.

Tax breaks are incentives to do something the government wants done, like all that Drill Here, Drill Now stuff you say you want.

I was surprised that McCain mentioned ANYTHING about the oil companies. It is not his area of expertise...way above his pay grade, and he was liable to goof it up. He should leave the oil industry to Governor Palin.

McCain doesn’t need to be wasting time on this right now, gas prices are falling like a rock and the Big Oil animus has died down. Go after 0 on his birth cert, terrorist associations, campaign finance fraud and his lack of qualifications to serve as CIC.

Yes, Obama has got to be stopped ...

but someone needs to pull the string on McCain's back ... and then make sure the next recorded talking point in the play list isn't about Global Warming

Great idea, John.

Attack one of America's most successful and most essential corporations because...it makes too much money!

I voted for McCain last week, on my mail-in ballot.

Wow...the most painful vote I have made in 40 years.

Exxon made record profits, but paid twice as much in federal taxes as they earned in profits. The media never mentions that little detail.

You’ve got to leave them something to invest with. The depreciation is spread out. McCain sounds desperate with this.
