Thanks, I will.
I have a very liberal friend literally freaks out and screams all over the place about how f-—ed Republicans are and how Zero is the best thing since sliced bread - I intently stopped talking to her until after the election - my feeling is - if liberals can’t grasp the reality of where this country will go if the messiah gets in - then screw em and MOVE ON - find more meaningful friends!
I promise, it is absolutely true. I know it sounds kind of dumb but I live in a liberal area and I don’t have like minded people to talk to. I’m not a troll. I really and truly support John McCain and Sarah Palin.
I’m just waiting for the day.
My half-black grandchildren have stop communicating with me since I told them that McCain was NOT a racist. The boys know that I like Rush Limbaugh which their mother was confused about, believing that Rush was a racist. I told her otherwise. But she died last year and the kids are with their father.
SORRY.....country comes first before friendship...
LOL I had a relative who was a die hard DEM all his life. Government was his life as he worked for a DOD contractor. In his den hung a picture of LBJ. How ironic today's GOP has evolved in policy into just what LBJ was in his time in office. I never had a cross word with the relative he was a kind old soul actually. It was his home his den his politics.
But before some Republicans go thumping their chest about what A Fine Grand Old Party they belong to I think they should consider what it has become first and deal with that sickness first. They'll soon find they don't have enough time to CONVERT their family, friends, and neighbors. The GOP is too sick from within itself to be trying to heal the Democratic Parties woes.
I’m on the verge of losing a couple . Sure , I do my best to try and convince them of what a disaster an Obama presidency would be , and send them factual info on Obama , etc...but their ears and minds are closed . The Obama’s hypnotic trance has turned them into zombies . You should read some of the garbage they send me in response ! But it is they who are intolerant , and would make the break , and not me .
I hope you saw all the replies that reprimanded MarkeyD and complimented you on a good post. I agree that this was a very good post. I was going to ask about tension among blacks in the workplace. I have a co-worker that is crying racism. We crackers are lost at how to deal with this.
“He is Jewish and doesnt agree with my position that Israel must be protected at all costs.”
It’s peculiar that evangelical Christians are more focused on the preservation of Israel than most American Jews are.
Damn....you need a new circle.
“After the political season is over strong feelings will subside...”
One wonders if this time, it might be different... IF Obama wins.
Remember what Michelle said, that [paraphrasing] Barak would never let us go back to where we were before?

You've hit on what often works for me when dealing with liberal friends: humor. I have little use for people with underdeveloped senses of humor, whether they be liberal or conservative.
Won’t it be nice next year when we can ALL go back to hating the new Presdient, whoever he is?
I noted the “/s” at the end of your posting, but in some ways it is too prescient to be laughed away!

Anyway, my nephew brought up politics and tried to needle me. I told him that yes, I supported McCain and could never vote for Obama for many reasons, but the main reason he creeped me out was his votes in favor of infanticide. I then went on to explain, etc.
Well, later that week my 18 yr old niece (nephs sister)came over for a visit and we talked about all kinds of things. The subject of politics came up. She said that her parents found out that my nephew had brought it all up with me and they were furious with him because, “they didn't want him to tell me and my husband that they were voting for Obama because they didn't want us to think less of them”. (See, even in their spirit they know it is wrong) I probed and we discussed. I explained Obama’s support of infanticide, etc. to my niece. I then said that believers must stand up against that and stand for righteousness. Then I left it at that.
The next morning I got a phone call from a peeved SIL saying how dare I tell her daughter that “if anyone votes for Obama, they have the devil inside”. I told her I said no such thing. She of course believed her daughter. I was so upset that I cried, told her I was hurt that she in essence would call me a liar and excused myself from the phone call. My niece then later told her mom that I didn't “exactly” say that.... In the end, we somewhat worked it out. My niece said that she was excited about her choice to support Obama, but that I made her “feel” bad with all of those facts about his votes. Unbelievable!!!
Anyway, needless to say, I avoid them like the plague. It is like casting pearl before swine.
So, fellow FReeper, stay strong! You are not alone.
“Some people on both sides of the aisle take all this way too seriously.”
Not possible. This election is more serious than a heart attack; the future of America is at stake.
Older people can be very wise.
Although...I've known pubbies that were left..and Dim's that were right. They are labeled...but they aren't labeled correctly.
I can call myself anything....that doesn't make me that which I call myself.
Seems to me....that you desire to point the gun at yourself first...before pointing at your enemy.
Seems like some liked to frame the V.N. War.........
The day after Sarah's acceptance speech, my liberal Dumbocrat sister forwarded me an email asking "Do You Really Know Who Sarah Palin Is?". I had to ask her just why on earth she would forward such an obvious hit piece to me.
It was a sure indicator to me of just how robotic some Obama supporters are.
I'm sure that my sister never stopped to think how I would receive such a slanderous communication before she sent it to me.
Of course, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt here. She's a Kool-Aid drinker of the first order, who couldn't delineate the differences between socialism and capitalism if her life depended on it. I know she's not analyzing any of this from an educated viewpoint, so I expect her to be robotic about it.
As to Sarah, I just don't see how any person could watch her acceptance speech and not come away liking her, even if they didn't totally agree with her politics.
Most politicians deserve at least some of the mud that's slung at them, but the unmitigated hatred that's been directed at Sarah is wholly manufactured. She hasn't deserved an ounce of it. There's simply nothing to dislike about her.
Unless you're a brainwashed tool of the hard-core left.
