A search of the Harvard University Library digital image collection appears to reveal that group pictures of graduate students from 1988 through 2003 are missing from the collection. Obama was in the graduating class of 1991.

However, Obama is shown in this picture, of the Harvard Law Review for 1990-91. He's in the center. This is the only record in the database the comes up using the string "Obama".
“What is that in Obamah’s hand?”
A Koran I think.
Oh, come on. This has got to be photoshopped. The lighting, noise and proportion of Obama doesn’t look right.
I saw one story that came out during the primary. Evidently, the students at Harvard were so impressed with Obama’s oratorical skills that they invented what they called the Obamometer, a scale by which to rate the B.S. skills of fellow students. It was described as follows, when a student was giving a particularly fine performance, doing a snow job on a professor, they were said to be a 9 on the Obamometer. No one but Obama got a 10.
“What is that in Obamah’s hand?”
It’s the shaft Hussein will give all American’s if he’s elected.
None have their cheek bones, forehead, and nose highlighted evenly like this. Also Obama seems to be in a row by himself...somewhere slightly ahead of the row in which he “seems” to appear.
Tell me, is his sitting, standing or kneeling. Figure out how his proportions could possibly relate to this photo. He’s a tall man, remember.
I had the same impression — the picture looks odd.
colorcountry,
I must say that when I initially looked at the photo I wondered if it was photoshopped. Hussein looks disproportionately and unnaturally larger than the other students. I just assumed it was his inflated ego.
He’s also missing half his right arm.
Photoshop?
...And half his right arm, you’re right!
My photoshop detector went off on that picture as well...
He’s too “clear”, his image is sharper than anyone else in the photo.
The different lighting can be explained by the dappled lighting of the sun through tree branches. However, the guy to Obama’s right (our left) looks like his shoulders are being squeezed on both sides....but Obama is leaning forward, so that shoulder should be relaxed.
The whole world??? He's got the whole world, in his hands, he's got the whole world in his hands, etc etc etc
Looks photoshopped to me. Why does it not surprise me?
Dappled lighting from a tree overhead. The lighting is a bit odd, but is due to the time of day when the photo was shot and lack of fill lighting. Put the tinfoil away.
Either because Obama missed the picture day, and as editor of the Law Review, was important enough for the photographer to insert at a later time, or....
To establish a provenance that didn't really exist. Perhaps he simply was never there at all.
According the Harvard Law Review website, the position of president dates back to its 1902 charter. The HLR has named over 120 presidents, so the story about Obama being the first must be incorrect.
I think he meant to say first black president.
There's a black lady in the top row right of center that has basically the same high-lighting. Dark skinned people will reflect light differently. That's a fact.
Secondly, Obama is sitting, as are all of the people in that row.
This is much to do...about nothing.
While I think Obama is a dangerous, lying, communist/marxist....shape-shifting chameleon....I don't think this photo is worth the effort.
FWIW-
